I've just gifted the community with 6 months of premium paid time (that's all I had the points in my account for) so that we can continue to add to our fabulously enormous number of tags. At least until we hit 2000, that is.
Thanks for coming along on this adventure and please let us know if you have any questions.
Fic Title: The dark blue sea
Author: Violetta Jones (ViolettaJones)
Rating/Warning(s): NC-17, graphic sex
WIP?: No, complete at 2 chapters, 10,647 words
Why This Must Be Read: Sanji is the notorious wannabe womanizer of the One Piece cast, always chatting up the ladies but never getting anywhere, despite his good looks and smooth style. I'd not considered this interpretation of Sanji's character, but I like it! This fic makes me want to hug both Sanji and Nami, and I'm goo-ily happy for them at the end. To be honest, I'm really reccing it for the lovely observation by Nami about Sanji's expressions. WOW. (Set in the Merry Go, on the Grand Line.)
Mods, can I get tags for fandom and pairing? These characters do not have family names, it's just Nami and Sanji.
Also, other admin things of note: hariboo has been awesome enough to fix the anime pairing tags, so those babies should be good to go in the new tagging policy. Hardcore love for you, Hariboo! If you see any anime tags incorrectly tagged, please be sure to bring it to the attention of one of the mods. (Preferably Hariboo, because she knows anime.)
Also, re: Manifestos. I've made an executive decision just to lock down dates for when they're going to be hosted. Every February and July of each year (and October is reserved for our anniversary special challenges), so things are neatly spread out throughout the year. In February, this year we'll be hosting "Fandom Manifestos" in lieu of our previous challenges that were specific to a pairing or a character. Any fandom, all het recs welcomed within it. It will not be first come, first serve on claiming fandoms, more like an all-you-can-eat buffet. As people will probably ship different things within the same fandom, they'll have a different take on what makes it so awesome, so the blurbs and recs will likely be different. That happens in February.
In July, we'll have Character Manifestos again.
Also, there may or may not be an attempt to create a DW mirror community for this comm, due to popular repeated requests. More info on that as it develops.
Questions, comments, concerns - drop 'em here. In the meantime, start thinking up which fandom you'd like to pimp out to this community in February's manifesto challenge.
Fandom Category: Doctor Who
Pairing: Martha Jones/Doctor
Fic Title: 18, Goshawk Avenue
Genre: Romance, Friendship, Humor
Special Rec: 22 of 22
Why This Must Be Read: Author's summary:Mr and Mrs Jones, they had called themselves. Naturally, the neighbours had begun to gossip. There are a lot of well written fics about the time Martha and the Doctor spent in 1969. I recently read this one and loved it! We get to see what the neighbors thought of the newest addition to the neighborhood. It is a sweet and funny take on Martha and the Doctor's sojorn in 1969 and how that could have changed things between them.
Pairing: Molly Hooper/ Sherlock Holmes
Fic Title: Every Time
Rating/Warning(s): K, spoilers for Sherlock 2x01
Why This Must Be Read: Molly's thoughts and efforts on Sherlock's gift and what inevitably follows. This piece illustrates Molly's hopes and vulnerabilities.

Pairing: Beverly Crusher/Jean-Luc Picard
Fic Title: Evolving
Genre: Romance, Hurt/Comfort, Adventure
Special Rec: 21 of 22
Why This Must Be Read: This story takes place after the episode Genesis; you know the episode where the crew starts de-evolving. I loved this story, not only because of the delicious h/c but because we finally get to see these two very stubborn people admit their feelings for each other as Jean-Luc helps Beverly while she recovers.
Pairing: Rachel Matheson/Bass Monroe
Fic Title: Try Three
Rating/Warning(s): Explicit, Dub-con warning for the last chapter.
Genre: Angst, Romance
Why This Must Be Read: Anyone watching Revolution is aware of the UST between Rachel and Monroe. What is their past? Were they involved? Is there more going on than we are seeing? This fic answers all these questions and comes off as entirely believable in the process.
Fandom Category: Revolution
Pairing: Charlie Matheson/Miles Matheson
Fic Title: What the Water Gave Me
Rating/Warning(s): Explicit, Incest, Violence
Genre: Angst, Romance, Adventure
Why This Must Be Read: So many reasons. This is my new favorite Charlie/Miles fic. The author is incredibly talented and her chracterizations are perfect. She manages to capture the sparks that fly between these two and translates it into an amazing fic. Also? If I smoked I would have lit up after reading this. Very hot.
Mods may I have a ship: Rachel Matheson/Bass Monroe tag please? Thank you. <3
Fandom Category: Sherlock (BBC)
Pairing: Molly Hooper/Jim Molliarty
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13 for language and general disturbingness, spoilers series 2x01
Genre: bit of angst, bit of dark
Why This Must Be Read: Molly finding her inner strength (and inner darkness) is a common Molliarty theme. This story, set during Scandal in Belgravia, is an excellent example. It is unflinching in portraying Molly's weakness but brilliant in showing her tapping into that fierce core that Molly fans believe in. And it's dark and sexy in a very unexpected way.

Pairing: Natasha Romanoff/Clint Barton
Fic Title: Only Human
Rating/Warning(s): NC-17, miscarriage, implied abuse
Genre: Angst, introspective, fluff
Why This Must Be Read: Insta!Rec because that's how good this fic is! This fic is just a beautiful portrayal of Natasha reclaiming the one thing Red Room had always refused her. anuna_81 writes both Natasha and Clint perfectly, and it's just perfect. Just read it, really.
Pairing: Elizabeth Shaw/David
Fic Title: Yellow Brick Road
Author: Hedge Labyrinth
Why This Must Be Read: Michael Fassbender's thoughtful portrayal of the android David in the Alien prequel "Prometheus" made him even more intriguing to me than the space jockeys and primordial face huggers. I won't spoil the end of that film for people who haven't seen it, but this fic picks up where it left off, and builds a haunting and believable relationship between a woman who is torn between science and faith and a machine who is slowly, beautifully, tragically becoming a man. Highly recommended.
Mods, may I have tags for Prometheus and Elizabeth Shaw/David?
Pairing: Clarice Starling/Hannibal Lecter
Fic Title: Breaking Free
Rating/Warning(s): Mature/mentions past cannibalism, murder, torture
Genre: Drama, Violence, Angst, Romance
Special Rec: 20 of 22
Why This Must Be Read: Author's summary: Incarceration is merely a minor inconvenience when Hannibal Lecter begins playing a delicate game with Clarice Starling. This is a very unusally dark story for me to read, especially considering the pairing. But the author does a beautiful job of just drawing you into a graceful and yet strangely inevitable dance between Hannibal and Clarice. It is a subtle story that is told from both pov's which is beautiful because we get to see how Clarice and Hannibal see each other and how they see their relationship. But what I really love about it is the fact that Clarice is not a victim, she is a strong woman who makes her own decisions and her own choices. I can't really get into to many specifics as it would give away to much but give this story a chance you won't regret it.
Fandom Category: Downton Abbey
Pairing: Mary Crawley/Matthew Crawley, John Bates/Anna Smith, hint of Sybil Crawley/Tom Branson
Fic Title: The Abbey
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13/T - some violence and language
Genre: AU, action, drama, humor
Why This Must Be Read: This is Downton Abbey as a spy thriller, and it is awesome. The premise is that Mary has gone rogue from her family's security agency (known as "The Abbey"), and Matthew is recruited to hunt her down and bring her back. The plot has the proper number of twist and turns for a spy thriller, almost all of the Downton characters show up in clever and fitting ways, and Matthew and Mary have a wonderful Nick and Nora-type banter that makes this story an absolute joy to read. My only disappointment is that this isn't part of a series yet, because I would happily read a hundred more stories set in this AU.
Pairing: Kensi Blye/Marty Deeks
Fic Title: Revenge
Rating/Warning(s): M for sexual situations (the last chapter only)
Genre: Case, Romance
WIP?: Complete, but the sequel, Privileges, is currently in progress.
Why This Must Be Read: It had me at casefic and kept me with the ship. Or maybe it was the other way around. Either way! It has plot, action, team, twists and turns. Then add a heaping helping of ship - banter, flirting, pushing the boundaries. It's like a weekly episode with the K/D flirting bumped up by a zillion.
If you're into the adult content, the sequel will be right up your alley, so check that out too.
"Anything you wanna share?" said Callen.
"Nope," she said.
Callen turned to Sam, and as one their faces lit up. "Guessing game," they cried in unison.
"Okay," began Callen. "Let's see. I'm gonna put money on you, having a date last night. And since you're not smiling, I'm guessing it didn't go well? Did he tell you he was gay?"
"No," said Kensi, not looking up.
"But it didn't go well?"
"There was no date," she clarified.
"Okay, Sam, you're up," said Callen, moving around the desk and taking his seat opposite the still-empty desk of their liaison.
Sam tented his fingers before him, observing the woman for a few moments intently. The big man's focus was unnerving, but Kensi felt determined not to let it get to her. She ignored him. Eventually, he spoke; "You found out that there was a pseudo-sequel to Titanic, and this is the aftermath of watching it?"
"No," she said.
"I really thought that would be it," said Callen. "There were roadworks outside your apartment, working all night?"
"They were all out of your favourite donuts?" tried Sam.
"No," she sighed.
"Top Model got cancelled?" This from Callen.
Kensi didn't even bother to respond to that one.
"Okay, my turn," said Sam. "You dreamt you were kissing Deeks?"
"What?" she sputtered, before she could contain herself. "No-I- but-!" She snorted with laughter "That is just- the least likely thing- ever to happen!"
"Good save," came a voice from behind them.
Pairing: Carolyn Plummer/Jim Ellison
Fic Title: A Wolf's Cry
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13/ Physical abuse against a child
Genre: Hurt/Comfort, Family
Special Rec: 19 of 22
Why This Must Be Read: What I love about this story is that we get to see a loving marriage between Carolyn and Jim; you can tell they truly care about each other, which is very rare in this fandom. I love Carolyn and Jim in this story as they work as a team to figure out why Jim keeps having dreams that he needs to help a young wolf before it is too late. Plus Blair as a kid is super cute, without being annoying.
Pairing: Cinderella/Prince Charming
Fic Title: Ex Tenebris, Lux
Rating/Warning(s): Teen/Abuse aftermath, Miscarriage, Mentions past emotional and physical abuse
Genre: Drama, Recovery, Depression
Special Rec: 18 of 22
Why This Must Be Read: Author's summary: When you have lived in the dark, how can you learn to come to the light? When you have been taught evil, how can you teach good? Some things never leave us, and Cinderella fights to escape the ghosts of her past so that she can offer hope to her family. The author does such a great job of showing how difficult it is for Cinderella to adjust to being a wife and eventually a mother. It is a heartbreaking journey she goes on but also a hopeful one.
Pairing: Susan Pevensie/Legolas
Fic Title: Across Worlds
Genre: Drama, Romance, Adventure, Crossover
Special Rec: 17 of 22
Why This Must Be Read: I loved this crossover. Susan finds herself in Mirkwood forest, unsure of why Aslan has brought her there. Eventually she meets Legolas. What is great is that Susan is not a Mary Sue in this story, but she does have a grand adventure and we get to see the events of the LOTR series through her eyes. I also really enjoyed the various meetings between Susan and Legolas as they slowly fall in love. Very well done crossover.
