Fandom Category: Alias
Pairing: Sydney Bristow/Julian Sark
Fic Title: The Cities arc
Byzantium: Iterations of Burn
Boston: Running to Stand Still
Rating/Warning(s): M/R. Warnings for violence, death, and attempted suicide.
Genre: Drama, very AU
Why This Must Be Read: This series leaves me absolutely breathless and is one of my all-time favorite Syd/Sark stories. The characterization is fantastic--the author is unflinching in her portrayal of these ruthless, complex, and morally gray super spies. Highly recommended.

Fandom Category: Twilight
Pairing: Bella Swan/Jacob Black
Fic Title: No Good Deed
Rating/Warning(s): M/R. Warnings for language and sexual content
Genre: Breaking Dawn AU
Why This Must Be Read: Anyone familiar with Twilight knows that to say Bella and Jacob have a lot of baggage is an understatement. In this AU, Bella doesn't become a vampire--she divorces Edward and leaves the Cullens to raise her baby on her own after Edward tries to abort the pregnancy against her wishes. 8 years later, a posthumous letter from Edward comes to his daughter--now named Saisha--imploring her to convince Bella to reconcile with Jacob since his actions have caused the both of them so much pain. This is actually a really thoughtful story, with a much more mature and confident Bella--one who recognizes her mistakes, owns up to them, and is willing to tackle her issues with Jacob in a reasonable and adult fashion. Jacob, while understandably resentful at first, is similarly able to put aside his own anger and meet her halfway to work things out. Of course, things hardly go smoothly and the author doesn't just ignore the issue of imprinting, choosing to address and resolve it in a very interesting way.

( Day 10: The Mummy rec )
Fandom Category: Suits
Pairing: Donna Paulsen/Harvey Specter
Fic Title: Tangential
Genre: Romance, friendship, angst
Why This Must Be Read: This fic outlines all these different things Donna and Harvey know about each other, and it really underlines that no matter how they feel about each other, they're best friends and they will always know each other better than anyone else. It's really a beautiful look at their relationship.

Pairing:Rachel Berry/Jesse St. James
Fic Title:your dirty mouth full of honest lies
Genre:Angst, Fill in the blank
Why This Must Be Read:marketchippie writes the best Jesse voice in all of fandom. I love how she fills in the blanks between Jessie going on spring break in 1.17 and him coming home in 1.19. I also like how she shows VA in all their messed up group dynamics. It really feels like these kids could have been molded by being four time National Champions. His conflict with Rachel is perfect and the team is perfect.
Pairing:Rachel Berry/Jesse St. James
Fic Title:a season ticket on a one-way ride
Why This Must Be Read: I love the way music is shown to be such an important part of their lives. Jesse is still a douche and Rachel is a drama queen, but they fit so well together.

Pairing: Rachel Berry/Noah "Puck" Puckerman
Fandom #: 10
Special Recs: 35-45
I recommend all of these, but if you can only read a couple/few, I've noted the ones I like absolutely BEST of all.
Fic Title: Out of the Blue
Genre: Romance, AU
WIP?: Yes - updated as recently as July 2012
Special Rec #: 35
Why This Must Be Read: Puck admits something to Rachel 'out of the blue' and things evolve from there. This takes Glee in an AU direction as of "Mash Up" in season one. It is a fantastic story. It is a complex story, and I love the turns the author takes Puckleberry on. It goes from angst to sweet; fights to family; it is a really good story. Very enjoyable!
( World Famous Sugar Cookies )
( The World They Made ) One of my faves - I look forward to every update!
( My Porcelain Romance )
( Misfit Toy Hero Squad )
( Their Number One Fan )
( Just Like Last Tuesday ) Definitely worth the read.
( Naming Rights )
( Make Way for Ducklings )
( Don't You Desert Me Now )
( Perfect Note ) Definitely good!
NOTE: I have also included author links. I'm only trying to rec one or two stories per author, but know that the ones recced are the best or best intro'd to the author's work. Every single author linked has more than one Puck/Rachel story, so please, please, please click the author link and read the rest of their stuff. My favorites I've marked with a *.
( What a pair of delinquents. )
Pairing: Rachel Berry/Noah "Puck" Puckerman, Santana Lopez/Brittany Pierce
Fic Title: It's Your Song That Sets Me Free
Rating/Warning(s): M/R. Major Character Death, bullying, suicidal thoughts, suicide, undearaged drinking, references to underaged sexual situations, cursing, and eventual dehydration when you CRY YOUR EYES OUT.
Genre: Angst, romance, AU, tragedy.
Why This Must Be Read: Okay, I've been waiting to recommend this one for a long time. Mostly because it was unfinished, and I wanted to be sure that it would be finished before recommending it. Well, the author posted the penultimate chapter today, and so this is going up. This story is an incredibly difficult one to read. I've been reading it chapter to chapter, and have cried pretty hard through each one. It is incredibly well written, and devastating for it. Puck's voice is strong through the whole thing, and by the end I found myself rooting for him in the worst of ways. Tarafina does great work in this. Puck comes across so young, but reasonably, tragically so.
Fic Title: Someday We'll Try (To Walk Upright)
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13, Spoilers through Duets
Genre: Romance / Angst
Why This Must Be Read: I have pretty much despaired of finding fic for Puck/Quinn anymore. After the horrors of Season 2, it's as if the community communally put up its hands and said, "It's hopeless." But then there was this. This fic... In seven parts Amiranaxagoras manages to make you feel happy, sad, and everything in between. She sets up the potential for a relationship between these two broken characters and then very quietly drops it back into canon compliance. You can see the ending coming, but it just hurts too good to stop reading. Do read and enjoy.

Pairing: Mercedes Jones/Sam Evans
Fic Title: You and Me in the Summertime
Why This Must Be Read: I actually thought the bit at the end of 2x22 with Sam and Mercedes was pretty cute. I also thought this fic, recounting a date of theirs over the summer, was pretty cute. It's just the two of them, in character and happy and without much fanfare. (The authors also have a whole bunch of Kurt/Blaine fics if that's your thing.) Enjoy!
(Mods, we should probably get a Mercedes/Sam tag going, as it's canon now...)
Pairing: Brittany S. Pierce/Mike Chang
Fic Title: like a movie loves a screen
Rating/Warning(s): NC-17/not really in the way of spoilers but it covers through 2.22
Why This Must Be Read: Excerpt: He isn't really sure when everything starts changing.
Neither of them changes – not drastically, anyway – but the ties between them bend and twist under the strains and pressures of the high school social ladder. He's on the football team, mostly at his best friend Matt's insistence, and she's on the Cheerios, mostly at her best friend Santana's insistence. But he's pretty quick on his feet, and she flips better than anyone else on the squad, so Friday night games integrate easily into their lives.
The football team sucks ass, but she never once makes fun of him for it like most of the other cheerleaders do. She marches to her own beat, but somehow still dances with flawless precision. Where others are confused by her quirkiness, he finds himself awed, curious.
The guys in the locker room start asking if he's gotten into the pants of that hot blonde cheerleader yet. He always shrugs and laughs it off, but as much as he knows Brittany gets around – she's not a slut, he's quick to clarify; she just has too much love in her heart, and no, he doesn't use those words either at the risk of being flat-out laughed at – she doesn't get around to him, and for the most part, he's okay with that.
He's just the lanky football player who loves to dance. Brittany shows him that he doesn't have to hide his rhythm in his room. Brittany makes it cool, makes it awesome, makes it fun.
With her, he is exactly who he wants to be.

Pairing: Santana Lopez/Matt Rutherford
Fic Title: the stars came falling on our heads
Link: the stars came falling on our heads
Rating/Warning(s): M, for language and mentions of sex
Genre: Romance, Angst
Special Rec: 7/20
Why This Must Be Read: The best characterization of Santana Lopez ever. In fact, I like this version of Santana so much more than the canon one, and I like canon!Santana a lot. The way the author portrays Matt and Santana's friendship as this long, dark, wonderful, fucked up thing is just perfect, and all the relationships seem real and possible, and it's just a very real fic overall. You feel for this Santana and Matt, both as friends and as more. Also, the fact that she uses Carmen Sandiego as a character is just perfect, and not nearly as cracky as you think. Just, go read this story. It's the best non-ensemble piece of Glee fanfiction I've ever read.
Fandom Category: Glee
Pairing: Rachel Berry/Jesse St. James, Giselle/Jesse St. James
Fic Title: your dirty mouth full of honest lies
Link: your dirty mouth full of honest lies
Rating/Warning(s): R, language and sex
Genre: Friendship, Romance, Angsty leanings
Special Rec: 8/20
Why This Must Be Read: Best Vocal Adrenaline fic in existence anywhere. This is a fic about the Jesse we never got to see in the show, and goes so far into and explains his character so well that suddenly his actions in the show make so much more sense. Here, Jesse is real and sad and angry and falling in love when he's not really supposed to. He has problems and triumphs and listens to sad music and gets drunk with his friends when he doesn't want to deal with things. And that's the best part of this fic: Vocal Adrenaline and Jesse's relationship with them. I'm always hoping the author will do more VA stuff, because she has them down perfectly. And her parentheses, dear Gods! I'm pretty sure parentheses were invented just so this author could use them in her stories. This fic is just perfect. Go read it.

Fic Title: Wandering Blearily Around
Genre: Friendship, Romance
Why This Must Be Read: I've read a lot of great Puck/Rachel stories during my time in this fandom, but this one left me speechless. Such a subtle approach to their relationship and the level of detail was stunning. Certainly a fantastic way to spend a few hours escaping reality.
Why This Must Be Read
Fic Title: You Just Might Find
Genre: idk, a happy genre?
Special Rec: 6/20
Why This Must Be Read: Hilariously in-character. I have a love/hate/hate relationship with Glee, but one character I never waffled back and forth on was Jesse St James. I loved him, even with the way his character was criminally misused and underused in the back nine eps of season one. Jesse sees straight to the charming tackiness of New Directions (and Rachel) and can't help but fall for it. These two are totally my Glee OTP.
Pairing: Rachel Berry/Noah Puckerman, Quinn Fabary/Noah Puckerman
Fic Title: (because happy is) what happens when all your dreams come true
Genre: friendship, family, UST,
Special Rec: 16/30
Why This Must Be Read: Hands down on of the best handling of the Puck/Rachel/Quinn triangle. It's fair to all characters involved. It's a little painful too and takes all three of them through the emotional ringer.
