Why This Must Be Read: This is one of my most favourite AU's ever. Described by the author as the episode Birthday "turned upside down and shaken", this is an excellent and well-written "what if". The story runs with the simple premise that Cordy never met with Winters in the pilot episode, never needed to be saved from Winters by Angel, and so never came to work at Angel Investigations, and does so in a way that is -- sadly -- wholly believable. This Angel and Cordy may have never graced our screens, but in this story they're just as possible and beautiful.
