Why This Must Be Read: Like the title says it's about four times Pepper thinks of quitting and the one time she does. The fic spans the length of Tony and Pepper's relationship from the first day Pepper steps into the house as Tony's newly appointed to the end of the movie. The growth of their relationship is done gently, highlighted in moments where Pepper (and Tony) take a step forward cementing herself in Tony's life and awesomely so at that (not that he complains, much).

She looked at him and smiled. “Well, you were right.”

“Of course I was,” he said. “What about?”

“I’m perky and a redhead,” she said turning to leave the room. “I’m also 5’10”, can run in heels, and can spot an error in a spreadsheet from 50 paces. So looks like another 3 points in my favor.

The door closed behind her.

“Sir?” Jarvis said.

“Yeah Jarvis, what?” Stark said sipping his coffee.

“I like her.”
