Shipper's Manifesto: Molly Hooper/Greg Lestrade
Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
Pairing: Molly Hooper/DI Greg Lestrade
Blurb: So, apart from one scene in which Lestrade clearly appreciates the dress Molly is wearing, this is another pairing that truly has no proper canon to substantiate it.
Be that as it may! I think the potential of this pairing is equal parts sweet, fun, and brilliant. We’ve got two minor characters who are often left in the wake of chaos that is Sherlock Holmes and I could see the two of them having a lovely pint one evening, and then a curry the next, finishing up with a lovely mini-break in Cornwall where they never leave the bedroom.
I’m simply going to let the stories speak for themselves. All of the ones I’ve chosen here show a competent, human Molly and Lestrade and are just wonderful reads. Proper rainy Sunday afternoon reads.

Rating/Warning(s): PG-13
Summary: Molly is thrilled when Sherlock finally invites her on a date. Well, when he says "date"...
Why This Must Be Read: This story is everything you’d like a story in which Molly must help out on one of Sherlock’s cases. It’s fun, smart and Molly is capable and clever. I would also now like a t-shirt that reads: What Would Mrs. Peel Do.
Fic Rec #2 An avalanche of detour signs
Author: gzyzm
Link: http://archiveofourown.org/works/340976
Rating/Warning(s): Mature, mild violence/language - the author’s warning note is pretty thorough.
Summary: In which Molly Hooper gets a job, gets a degree, breaks a heart, has her heart broken, falls in love, keeps a secret, saves a life, runs a morgue, falls apart, pulls it together, and finds exactly what she didn't know she was looking for--not necessarily in that order.
Why This Must Be Read: This fic has been recc’d all over the place and with very good reason. It’s superbly written, and the characters and the story are fascinating. I love this Molly and Lestrade so very, very much. It’s a proper epic that needs to be how things turned out after the season two finale.
Fic Rec #3: Maps to Strange Lands
Author: Yeomanrand
Link: http://archiveofourown.org/works/336974
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13, very mild gore
Summary: Molly Hooper knows so much more than she will ever tell.
Why This Must Be Read: One of the things that I love seeing more of is the emphasis on Molly’s observations. This story is a lovely short one-shot that is filled with wonderful images and I love the ending it hints at.
Fic Rec #4: Rings are Full Circles
Author: calcarbonate
Link: http://holmestice.livejournal.com/53913.html
Rating/Warning(s): PG
Summary: Rings mean a lot of things to people...and Sherlock overlooks a great deal.
Why This Must Be Read: I love fics that explain a bit more about minor characters and this one definitely does. There’s a nice melancholy feel to this story, and the dialogue and scenes are extremely well done. Once again, I love the hopeful ending of it.
Fic Rec #5: Stuck and Leaning on Graces
Author: anonymous
Link: http://sherlockmas.livejournal.com/69111.html
Rating/Warning(s): Mature
Summary: The prompt I chose works excellently as a summary, so: “Molly isn't a secret BAMF or super genius in hiding. She's shy, sometimes goofy, sometimes awkward Doctor Molly Hooper. Which is why she is very nervous and a bit confused when a self confident, powerful man (Mycroft or Lestrade!) takes a keen interest in her...”
Why This Must Be Read: First off, this has Molly and Anthea as friends, which will never not be awesome and a thing that I want. Secondly, it’s funny. Funny in that terribly human and awkward way when you’re really trying to figure out what you want. Thirdly, it’s sexy. You can’t really go wrong with this story.

Rating/Warning(s): Mature
Why This Must Be Read: While this does have some Sherlock/Molly in the beginning, it ends up as Molly/Lestrade and it’s fantastic. Molly has gotten a bit fed up and so has Lestrade and so they pretty much go for it. And why not? A very fun, snarky read.
Fic Rec #7: Ellipsis

Rating/Warning(s): Mature
Why This Must Be Read: This is post-season two and it’s harsh and real and filled with all the grief and angst that these characters had to have been feeling. An extremely raw and powerful one-shot.

Rating/Warning(s): PG-13
Why This Must Be Read: This is set during A Scandal in Belgravia and is just a quiet moment between Molly and Greg. It’s simply lovely and is filled with a hopeful sort of longing. You really want these two to make it somehow. (PS If you like really amazing gen Sherlock stories, read everything this author has written!)
*I believe I need a Molly Hooper/Greg Lestrade tag! Thank you!
