Why This Must Be Read:Just like at the end of season three, Elena gets turned by Dr. Fell. She gave Elena vampire blood to help heal her from the cerebral hemorrhage that no one knew she had. Elena has no clue that she has vampire blood in her system when she drinks the exlir that will end her life. Due to a bunch of voice messages, Elijah realizes that Elena is dying and takes Jeremy with him on a road trip to help Elena. I love that Elena becomes more proactive and ends her life on her own terms instead of Rebekah forcing her hand. I can' t wait to see where this story goes. Elijah teaching Elena to become a vampire is one of the things I wanted most on the show. The family bond between Jeremy and Elena as being shown as just as important as the sibling bond between Damon and Stefan, and Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah makes me happy and I can't wait to see what happens next between Elena/Jeremy, Elena/Elijah, and Elijah/Jeremy. Plus, I love roadtrip fics which it seems like the three of them are on.

Why This Must Be Read: I love the slow realistic build up between Elena and Elijah. None of their interaction feels like it is just there to make them become a couple faster than they would otherwise. I love how you deal with all the other characters in this story. The plot of this story could easily been on the show. Slow plotty fics are my weakness, and this definately hit all my buttons. I also love that you touched on Elijah and Tatia in this story. It felt like something that would be brought up between them. Elena is a copy of a copy of the woman that Elijah first loved. That has to be strange for both of them.

Why This Must Be Read: This is one of the best Elena/Elijah fics around. It goes AU after Elena fails to dagger him in the heart. I love how brave and proactive my girl is. She may be locked up in house with only Elijah and a compeled woman for company, but she makes the most of it. The author does an amazing job writing not only Elena/Elijah, but also Bonnie, Caroline, Jenna, Jeremy, Stefan, John, Damon, Katherine, Isobel and Liz. All of the characters have their own pov and desires, and even when they come up against what Elena wants, you understand and sypmathize with both characters. The trust building between Elena and Elijah never feels cheap. Both of them slowly earn the trust of each other. When Elena tries to save him at the end, and unsucessful, you understand why thje other characters made that call. I also love that Bonnie and Elena are allowed to have it out. I believe that both girls adore each other, but are being pulled in different ways due to their moral code.

Why This Must Be Read: Once again, I'm a sucker for a slow build nad this story has it in spades between Caroline and Klaus. Also, I'm really enjoying the sense of time that Klaus and his family has been around. I like how the author uses the cities of Europe show exactly how old Klaus and his family truly is. If I had an issue with this story, I would say Klaus has shown his softer side faster than I would expect. The person who forced Isobel to set herself on fire in front of her daughter, or daggered his family because he felt disappointed by them is not there with Caroline. The sadism and cruelty is utterly absent when he interacts with Caroline, which I find sort of a cop out. Caroline is pretty much in character throughout the entire trip.

Why This Must Be Read: I love that this fic deals with a time period that is unexplored on the show. I think it is a great read to flesh who their parents were before they had kids. I loved reading about how the town sucked you in and pushed you to be wat your parents were. It hasn't changed since the mid 1800's. A Lockwood is still the mayor of the town, just like a Forbes is a sheriff, and a Gilbert is a doctor. It didn't matter that Richard or Liz didn't want to be their parents. That was the role assigned to them since birth and the were going to fufill the town's expectataions.

Why This Must Be Read:This a plausable way Elena would choose to die. It is horrible and codepedent and so very like Elena and Stefan's relationship at this point in time. It packs a punch in a little over a thousand words.

Why This Must Be Read: I'm interested to see where Elena goes from here. She feels like she made a huge mistake with Damon and I want to see how different vamp Elena and human Elena are. Elena did something that she swore she would never do, and yet she broke her own rules. I'm curious to see if this causes her to shut down and flip the switch. Rebekah is breaking my heart in this story and so is Elena. I can't wait to see Bonnie grow into her own woman and not be the stuck acting like nature's balance. Both Bonnie and Elena are really coming into theor own power wise after feeling like they had no power and were being pushed around by things not in their control.

Why This Must Be Read:I love this fic. One moment it can make you burst out giggling and the next it feels like your heart has been ripped out. I would read this just for the image of Stefan in a beard. This fic manages to be both laugh out loud funny and break your heart in just a few sentences. If that isn't the mark of a skilled author, I don't know what is.
