Why This Must Be Read: This is a beautiful fic where a newly freed River comes upon an archeological dig (and some very familiar figures for us fans) and a few monsters too. Of course, she calls the Doctor to help her save the day (and the planet). It has everything I love in the show, a mix of adventure, angst and romance. And it might be the first fic in a series (you'll get why once you hit a certain part in the fic).
