Why This Must Be Read: Everything Sin writes is excellent, which is why when she took on this pairing I gave it a chance. I was never a huge Uhura/Kirk fan, I preferred Uhura with Spock from the time that I was a little girl and was so happy when the ninth movie came out and them being a couple became canon. But then I read this story. I tell you, I fell in love with this pairing. Not only is the fic beautifully written, it makes the possibility of this couple make sense. By the end I was rooting for them and as a shipper I never looked back.

Why This Must Be Read: Anzu thinks she has everything she's ever wanted in life... until she gets invited to Yugi's wedding. Priorities and past feelings abound. It's really an ensemble story (with background Rebecca/Yugi, Serenity/Tristan, Joey/Mai and a surprise pairing), and I love that the author uses the opportunity to showcase everyone's friendships and different voices. The core triangle isn't annoying, either, but fully realised and sympathetic to everyone involved -- not to mention featuring some of the best writing I've ever read, in the sense that it rings so true to life. I cannot recommend this story highly enough, or love this story more even if it had been written with one of my OTPs as the centre. It's that good.

Why This Must Be Read: I have to say that for the past few weeks Leverage pretty much pwned my mind (yes I've just discovered this show and it's awesome), and while I love both Official Couples, I just can't live without Nate/Sophie. This fic is beautiful and it shows the progression of their relationship after San Lorenzo. Nate and Sophie are just spot on and this fic is a must-read!

Why This Must Be Read: I have to say that pretty much all of the fics that fall under today's category are for John/Elizabeth, so choosing just one was quite difficult. But this is definitely one I never tire of reading again and again. It sounds like a AMTDI fic at first, but really, it's a 'Aliens Suggested They Do It And They Did' kind of fic. ;) The characters are all spot-on, it's beautiful and sexy and hot, and all the things that we love in John/Elizabeth! Why This Must Be Read: She doesn't have much talent but of what she does have, she has an abundance, more than enough to share.

Ema/Klavier is one of the more popular het pairings in this fandom, but this is the first story I've read where I understood why one of them had feelings for the other, and gives it actual development. It is also one of the few stories where Klavier's professional side isn't shafted in order to play up the playboy image that's so omnipresent in fandom, but rather, he gets some very insightful character work. It's a quick read -- check it out if AA is familiar to you!

If you've ever read the five-book series, you'll know that the Drews' ending is somewhat bittersweet. As someone who loved Jane, there were a lot of lingering questions, too, about her connections with the Greenwitch and the Lady that were left unanswered. I won't say more, to avoid spoilers, but in this story things end a different way for Jane.

Why This Must Be Read: First, it's probably the cutest pairing in the Stargate verse, and even Elizabeth said so in-universe (and John totally rooted for them too). Of course, TPTB had to go and messed it up, as always. Still, it's a beautiful pairing, and it could have been great if they hadn't split them up and killed Carson (still can't forgive them for the mess that was s3.5 onwards with him and Elizabeth). This fic is beautiful, and it shows that Laura is there for Carson when he needs her. It's well-written, the characters are spot on, in a word, awesome!

Written for Porn Battle several years ago, this still sticks with me as being impactful and erotic, all in under 300 words.

Sadly for House (you'll understand why when you read the fic), their weekend away coincides with the death of MU. This fic is hot, really hot, and it's not work safe of course! Also, this is AU in the sense that House and Cuddy never split up.

It's hard to describe without spoiling things, but if you're a Doctor/River fan, go read it. Bonus appearance by that other character who can canonically claim the title "Doctor"!

Why This Must Be Read: The road to hell, as they say, is paved with the very best intentions.

This is, hands down, one of my favourite stories in the fandom and is basically my headcanon of Pain and Konan before the series starts, and everything that shapes them. The language is glorious (not a hyperbole), the loss of innocence and plunge into violence handled with amazing intensity, and just the sense of doom and war. As for the Konan/Pain relationship... this is the story that convinced me of them. The sense of longing is slow and aching, making its resolution all the more satisfying.
