Why This Must Be Read: This short story is utterly adorable - a missing scene of sorts after Lizzy and Darcy's engagement, it finds the newly engaged couple discussing what names they should call each other now that they are going to be married. It captures the flirty, teasing tone of the engagement chapter in the book just beautifully.

'Darcy, then,' she said, entertained at the idea of them deciding on her address by its degree of impertinence. 'If one cannot be impertinent to the Mister, it must be taken out.'

'Bingley uses Darcy,' said Darcy, now looking at her, with a smile--such a smile that she was just now getting used to recognize in his face. She had been, she mused, rather blind. 'He is rarely impertinent.'

Her Viktor is a thing of beauty--complexity, subtlety, ambition, chivalry, compassion, and mischievousness, all wrapped up in a sexy, Bulgarian package that will make you swoon. She handles his accent with incredible skill; his dialogue has just enough stiltedness for verisimilitude, but it is never unreadable. And her prose. Dear god, her prose. It is out-of-this-world gorgeous. Aside from Viktor/Hermione,

thimble_kiss writes a ton of HP rarepairs (her Hermione/Cormac fics have already been rec'd on this comm). And if you're a fan of Zacharias Smith, she is your girl. You cannot go wrong with this author. She'll make you sigh, swoon, squeal, and cry with every word she writes. Why This Must Be Read: Kitty Bennet so often gets lost in the shuffle over her other sisters and their epic (or in some cases, not so epic) romances, so it's always a thrill when an author makes an attempt to create a story for Kitty. In this case, Shemmelle created a wonderful, slightly to the right of canon, tale that puts Kitty at the center stage. The characters that are brought to light as well are also endearing and amusing, but it is Kitty who is given the chance to shine. The romance is written very well too, happening over time and with the occasional hurdle to overcome. A lovely epic.

Why This Must Be Read: This regency era AU begins on the premise that Mr. Bennett died prematurely, forcing poor sweet Jane to marry Mr. Collins, much for Lizzy’s indignation. While Elizabeth visits her unhappy but ever so optimistic sister, she meets Darcy and the Colonel and Anne DeBourgh at Rosings, and finds herself in the position of accepting the offer to become Georgiana’s companion, despite having recently overheard Darcy insulting her during a conversation with his cousin Anne. Soon, Darcy becomes aware of a stubborn attraction to miss Bennett, to the point he seriously considers taking her as a mistress, while an oblivious Elizabeth discovers new, softer sides of her employer.
If this plot still has not won you over, you should take in account the wonderful friendship that blossoms between Georgiana and Elizabeth, an unique, unexpectedly cunning Anne DeBourgh, and a splendid Conceited-Darcy voice.
And don’t fear for Jane, because she eventually gets her happy ending too.
I think this story might have benefited from a bit more historical accuracy, since, toward the end of the tale, its characters seem to display a bit too modern mindset, but everything’s so beautifully told that I can easily forgive this minor flaw.

Why This Must Be Read: I’ve always thought that Jane and Bingley were underappreciated… while they lack the dranmatic streak of Darcy and Elizabeth, they have an appeal of theirs that should be adequately valued. This fic explains why. It’s P&P, through Charles Bingley’s eyes - a journey he starts as a naïve young man who trusts too much but matures along the way, learning to seek out only true sincerity in his relations and to be more self-assertive.
A more extended -and equally well done- take on the same theme is 'A Truth Universally Acknowledged' by Sabrina-Elizabeth-Ann, that has the advantage to focus more on comprimary characters as well. Here the link:

Why This Must Be Read: This is an AU in the Pride and Prejudice universe. It takes our beloved characters and puts them into a murder-mystery. Lizzy is strong and capable, Darcy is still proud, but not as unapproachable as in the canon. Colonel Fitzwilliam makes an appearance and is delightful. It is extremely well-written and has a riveting murder mystery attached to it. I will warn you, Jane and Mr. Bennet are given rather different roles and are not as sympathetic as they are usually portrayed. There’s a sequel, too!

Why This Must Be Read: Basically, What You See Is What You Get, meaning we get to see the Pride and Prejudice story through the point of view of Mr. Darcy. The author makes a great job at imitating the style of the original novel, while filling the gaps on Mr. Darcy's background and feelings as they evolve. The fic relies heavily on the BBC series as well as the novel, but I think it remains quite accessible to those who had read only the novel or seen the latest movie adaptation.

For me, this remains one of the greatest Pride and Prejudice fics I've ever read: the fluff factor, the attention to detail, the careful description of the characters and the obvious commitment of the author to adapt the whole story makes it a 100% must read. :)

Why This Must Be Read: This is a great follow up to Pride and Prejudice that not only gives attention to a great secondary character, but also stays true to the world and characters created by Austen. This fic is magic in the way it presents the slow awakening of Anne de Bourgh as she steps outside Rosings Park and realizes that the world is not quite as Lady Catherine has painted it. I like that Anne makes mistakes and misjudges and slowly wakes to her own prejudices and flaws, even as she discovers the world and her own capabilities and value. She's petulant and jealous at times, but also brave and kind and willing to correct herself--a true fleshed out character. You'll be cheering for her and wishing for her happy ending. The supporting cast is varied and textured, and there are some lovely cameos by some familiar characters. Enjoy!
