Why This Must Be Read: What if, following Mr. Collins' insulting proposal and insinuation that Elizabeth may never receive another suitable offer, Mr. Darcy proposes later that same day?  With her family's future in mind, she tries to make what she deems a practical decision and frankly tells Mr. Darcy her motivations.  This wonderful story includes all major plot points of the original novel but shows our couple overcoming their own biases and misjudgments instead as an engaged couple. 

I strongly recommend this!  Just read it and couldn't tear myself away, wonderfully written.  The majority of this is in perfect character and so much fun to read... it was only at the end when the 'Mature' rating came into effect that I felt the characterizations broke.  You get to see all your favorite characters (Col. Fitzwilliam, Bingley, Jane, Caroline, Mrs. Gardiner) but in fresh new scenes.  This author, mrsmish, has a few other similar fics (all following the original plot but with a slight twist and a Mature rating) and I recommend them all!  Check out her author page!
