Made it!! 30 fandoms and 98 recs! (It would have been over 100, but some of them were recced in the Ship Manifesto or before I got to the particular fandom. Why This Must Be Read: Three years after Klaus was dealt with and Damon chose to leave, most of the group decided to travel. There was one person left behind; one person who was not invited. Abandoned, her visions ignored, Bonnie must deal with a new evil taking root in Fells Church. Alone. At least until Damon saunters back into town. I liked this story. In the books, Elena made me want to grit my teeth with her attitude, but Bonnie was a fun, lovely character. The last scene between her and Damon in the book makes this story believable for me. And its nice to see Damon getting the chance to be the hero instead of Stefan.

Why This Must Be Read: At the moment this is a two-parter, but the series is not marked complete, so maybe there'll be more? DG & Cain are taken prisoner, and there is nothing more painful than watching the torture of a loved one. I don't normally read or recommend dark fics, but the second one-shot does end on a hopeful note. I wanted to recommend this because the author treats the situation with appropriate seriousness. There is no "after-school special" and everything's okay by the end of the hour.

Why This Must Be Read: This story goes into Star's mind, attempting to give a fuller view of her character and viewpoint upon meeting Michael. The movie was an enjoyable vampire flick. Star & Michael were the two characters who rode the line between dark & light - the type of characters you can do so much with. However this is one of the few pieces (in a small fandom anyway) that I've seen try and get into Star's head.

Why This Must Be Read: Marta and Aaron have gotten lost for a while. The fic is a scrapbooks of scenes as they are surviving, living, and growing into who they are now. I like how the transition from feeling the attraction to acting on the attraction happens after a really normal, everyday type thing. Marta gets scared by a (BIG) spider and Aaron teases her about it before taking care of the thing. He grows a bit ashamed over teasing her, she acknowledges being silly and gives him a simple kiss...and the attraction boils over.

Why This Must Be Read: This is pre-ship/early-ship. It involves misunderstandings, injuries, theft/borrowing (depends on who you ask) and basically the mixed up maze of a pre-ship mixed in with the usual trouble of the Pegasus galaxy. The place where Murphy doesn't have a set of laws - he's actually running the whole show. Jennifer's got a question, but Ronon's had a bad day...everything goes down hill from there.

Why This Must Be Read: First off, this is an EPIC length Sky High fic, which is practically impossible to find. I like how the author shows the characters dealing with the fallout of homecoming as well as the knowledge that just defeating the villain once doesn't mean the trouble is over. Smart villains always have backup plans, and this is an intriguing journey centered on Warren in particular as the group works to become the heroes they are supposed to be. The romance is slow in building, but it will happen!

Why This Must Be Read: This story takes place in a modern setting. Arwen and Aragorn have been reborn. They remember nothing of their epic past. Unfortunately an ancient evil once more walks the earth. Aaron (Aragorn) is a doctor, and he has a new patient - an amnesiac old man who will lead him on the adventure of a lifetime as well as setting him on a course leading to Eve (Arwen). It is the first of a fantastic series which brings back many favorite characters - sometimes in new and exciting ways as you go along. The final story of the series is a WIP and sat quiet for a long time, but it was updated once more in May, so there is still hope!

Why This Must Be Read: This one-shot is now canon for me, I swear. It is a beautiful piece which takes place years after the end of the movie. Sarah is all grown up, and has one last broken thread in her life. Can Jareth fix it? Or maybe even show her that she is not broken at all? This story is a must read for Sarah/Jareth fans.

Why This Must Be Read: After the dramatic and tragic events of Harry's fifth year, his trust in the system is at an all time low. With some insight from a new friend, he realizes he has to change the way he's been handling things. He also moves Dumbledore to his "not-to-be-trusted" list. This year, the DA gets ready for war. This was the first fic that really explored some of the same thoughts tumbling in my head over the less-than-stellar work being done by the adults at Hogwarts. Why was everything being done by a kid? Definitely worth your time.
