But unlike a lot of AUs, it doesn't simply carve out an ideal easy world for the characters, instead observing their inherent obstacles to happiness with a realistic sense of uncertainty. For anyone intrigued by the angst factor of Zak Adama's death, this fic cannot be missed.

Why This Must Be Read: The way this author writes Gaius Baltar just feels so true to the character. His thought processes, his selfishness, and the way he wonders about his lack of guilt and whether or not that signifies that he might not even be human anymore. And as always, Six is there with her non-answers and the absolute certainty that God has a plan and that Gaius will always be hers.

He hates her more than he has ever loved anyone else, quite possibly including himself.

It's a story that fills the gap between season 2 a 3. It explains how Helo and Athena got to the good place the were in once the third season began. It's beautiful! Really touching and painful. He says "call me Helo" and that's enough for her; an hour later she'll be screaming it like she's shouting for the Gods, and for the first time in thirty days she won't think of Zak at all.

This one line has stuck with me for years, ever since I first read the fic. It’s not the only good line, either. The fic is just gorgeous and it informs so much of their later interaction in canon (even though I’m pretty sure TPTB never read the fic).

It’s a very quiet fic, reminiscent of a late-night walk through deserted streets, with a UST that slowly builds until you know where the fic is headed, even though it doesn’t explicitly go there. It’s just that step to the left, where everything is the same, and yet everything has changed.

Why this fic?: Follows much of BSG and Inception canon, although for Inception it is mostly post-movie. All characters have stayed in character. Though there is romance the overall scifiness of the whole piece is front and center. The balance of both fandoms in the story is very well maintained.
