Why This Must Be Read: When I first read the idea, I was entirely dubious. But this is a surprisingly well written fusion where Ariadne is actually a witch in Harry Potter's world, and how she comes into Cobb's Inception world with that history. Her relationships and viewpoints are tainted by her experiences, and the muggle world is suddenly just as complicated as her wizarding world. Very well written.

Why This Must Be Read: Hope, loyalty, love, despair, and tragedy. Through it all, Lily discovers the truth about the Marauders, the affable troublemakers who hide behind smokescreens but still glitter in shattered light. They aren't the glorious, graceful men they are often perceived as, but stumbling, awkward boys who are still trying to find their way out of darkness.

Instead of stumbling around and babbling incoherently, I'm going to leave you with one of the reviews to the story:

it's just... you write them as imperfect and special and lily as something binding and whole that comforts as well as seeking comfort. its the world and the people in it explained in four different people. the broken the beaten the bruised. all of those who help yet find it hard to seek help. the destructive and the mending, the hurt and the whole. people who remain faceless and in shadows when compared to those that seem naturally attractive to us. the mothers, the fathers, the broken children. all of it.

i cry at the start at how sad it all is, i keep crying. i cry at the end because of the injustice and lies. yet i'm not depressed because i know that the truth helps. that the people so broken found what they needed - even if it was evil and cruel - because its how it is supposed to be.

Why This Must Be Read: Luna and Harry's relationship is just so unique, she understands him in a way that no one else in the books really does. It's bittersweet and reminds me of why I fell in love with this pairing in the first place.

He thinks his dreams would be mundane if she didn't waltz through them. Then they would be about war and blood and death and so much death and trivial, monotonous things like that. These days in his dreams he believes in magic.

Why This Must Be Read: He's the boy who psychologically tortured her for a year, and she's the girl who ends up marrying the hero; it's hard for a pairing to have more baggage than that. But I can't help but love Tom and Ginny in all their fucked-up glory. As the author demonstrates beautifully in this piece Ginny will always be haunted by the diary and will never really escape Tom.

It's just a name just a name just a name she repeats but of course it's not. No name is just a name. (Tom taught you that.) And this name is less of a just a name than any other Ginny has ever heard.

Why This Must Be Read: Of all the sex scenes I've read in fandom this piece is one of the most memorable. The way the author uses colors to show the progression of Remus and Tonks's relationship really works. A beautiful story that really showcases this pairing in all its facets.

Why This Must Be Read: These are two old, whimsical one-shots with a fairytale feel to them. They use the figures of hero and villain wonderfully, getting to the core Harry's character. Not particularly centred in the romance, but you can feel Luna's love and admiration for Harry in them. Both authors manage to capture Luna's voice, which isn't easy to do.

Oh, yeah, and she's just been assigned the two most incompetent fairy godmothers in the history of the profession, at least one of whom is more concerned with political correctness than actually getting the job done and bringing about the bliss that is Twue Wuv.
Killer high heels! The curse of the toad! A thousand elephants! All this and much, much more, once upon a time...

This fic is certainly weird, but it has the right mix of canon and randomness and it's funny and adorable at the same time.

Why This Must Be Read: This is the 2nd chance story, after Severus dies in Deathly Hollows, that I never knew I wanted until I found it. The summary is this: Severus wakes up in the afterlife expecting something rather different than being almost-seventeen again. Seriously, what kind of game is this? But wait - Lily's come back, too - from 1981? Perhaps it's a second chance... but to do what?

Severus wakes up seventeen again but is still truly the Severus that's lived a hard, hard 38 years before his death. He's dark, angry, and bitter. So you have Sev back and Lily who's just died in '81 and hasn't seen Severus in years and is dealing with the emotional fallout of having just lost her husband and her son. And here's a Lily that isn't too stupid to live, who slowly starts to realize her own faults, comes to terms with how she could fall for someone who'd treated her best friend so abhorrently, and then finally dealing with the loss of Harry. I could go on and on even more. It's the grown up version of a second chance story for both Lily and Severus. This fic doesn't pull many punches and the author creates a world that grips you and keeps you enthralled to the very end.

This becomes a bit of a Super!Harry fic, but it is done in a captivating way. At the end of Harry's 5th year, his life is in shambles. Things aren't going to get much better. He learns even more secrets and finds that trust should never be given easily. Families break apart, friendships become strained, allies become enemies, old enemies become allies, and the world begins to burn. (Note - you'll need to get the password because of the rating level...though I was able to log in with Facebook.)
