Why This Must Be Read: I found this fic while I was in fact searching for Leslie/Ron fics, but I saw this and it kind of sparked my interest so I took a look at it. This fic is everything I ever wanted for Ann, it gives her a lot of depth the show could so easily and kind of plugs perfectly against her problems of always being the love-interest and never the heroine. And honestly, Ron is kind of the perfect person to bring that out in her, which is not something I would have ever considered before reading this fic. Definitely a great Ann character study.

Why This Must Be Read: Because Leslie Knope would be an excellent addition to the Ministry of Magic and you know it. This amusing little fic puts her in the Department of Magical Land Management and Wizarding Pastimes (where else?) with Ben as an auditor from Dolores Umbridge's office (natch). It escalates into some cute PWP pretty quickly, but the fusion of the Parks 'verse with the Potterverse is laugh-out-loud funny. Plus,

stillscape's commentary is great--both regarding the fic and regarding some really solid observations about the wizarding world that, really, don't make a ton of sense when you think about them.

Why This Must Be Read: Lit-ra-lly the best summer-shutdown fic I have read in about two weeks of binging on P&R fandom. With the government closed, all the usual suspects get roped into a water balloon fight for charity, and it's pretty much awesome. From the Councilman Houser run-in at the beginning to the unexpected but lovely epilogue, you will have every reason to love, love, love this.

Why This Must Be Read: I'd held off reccing this until it was finished, because it is long and fabulous and engrossing. It deals with where S3 leaves off, and remains wonderfully real amongst the romantic and political antics of Ben and Leslie. The absolute best selling point, to me, was the wonderfully integration of everyone else on the show, especially April and Andy. As loveable as they are, they also read as people who know a thing or two about love and provide Ben with a lovely balance to Leslie and Ann's friendship.

synecdoche also manages to write a very cute balance into the Ann/Chris dynamic, which IMO was quite lacking on the show. It honestly feels like a few episodes of Season 4.

stillscape really makes this premise work, and has a keen touch for the voices and feelings of kids that age.

Why This Must Be Read: Panache (

cypanache) is pretty much the best Leslie/Ben author out there, and that's saying something, because there are a lot of amazing authors. The best part of her fics is that her Ben and Leslie are so real. They have hang-ups and problems and doubts like real people, but she also manages to keep the fun and silliness that's such an important part of P&R in there. It takes place right after 'Media Blitz', so it's AU now, but it still has something about it that convinces you that this is really what might have happened if things had happened a little differently. Also, it shows Ben's gradual attachment to and induction into Pawnee in a really fantastic way.

Ben's voice is perfectly weary but pragmatic, and Leslie is full of bounce and spark, which acts to complement the other.
