Why This Must Be Read: Right, so fated_addiction just writes phenomenal fic in general and especially for Usagi/Mamoru, but this is is just out of this world. She builds an AU within the canon that exists in the manga and manages to pull out some of the most amazing Usagi characterisation ever. It's a bit of a What If verse and Usagi starts on the journey to becoming Sailor Moon a bit differently with the players switched around some, but even with all these changes one thing remains: she's the glue and that's so true for the fic too. Usagi binds this fic together and her relationship with Mamoru during this journey of self discovery highlights ever.

But really, just read all of fated_addiction's Usagi/Mamoru fic if you get a chance.

Why This Must Be Read: So it's obvious I really like AUs. And if it wasn't I REALLY LIKE THEM, sorry! tosca1390 also has really excellent fic for these two too, but I love AUs! This AU is currently two fics, which is why I'm reccing both at once and this is a great one because I'm not honestly a big Sailor Moon fic reader for Usagi/Mamoru but I saw this one and it's so perfect. Political AUs for this narrative should happen more often because it lends itself so well to what already exists for the characters. Usagi is unchanged here, just older, but still on a mission to do good and make a change. Mamoru is still on the path to be a doctor and thanks to these paths and their friends their paths cross and it's the loveliest. Their relationship here is so supportive and it just flows. Also I love the roles the other senshi play in this AU and how the Dark Kingdom is introduced. Perfection!

Why This Must Be Read: Reccing this is like coming out of a fandom closet. Sailor Moon and the senshi/shittenou pairings were my first serious ships AND fandom ever. I love all of them so much and they are like the otps of otps to me. This is definitely one of the lighter and funner fics of them out there as they usually have to do a lot with the Shittenou making amends for their ~dark pasts and betraying their King. But! This is an AU! A wonderful AU that lets you see how they all would interact if they were just normal people with normal problems. What I love most about this is how distinct each character is and how all the relationships are intertwined and built upon. Mina is struggling artist who thanks to her friend Darien (Mamoru's English name) meets Kevin (Kunzite's English name here) and low and behold LOVE OCCURS. Of course things are never that simple when you bring their families, their lifestyles and exes.

VO1's other fic, As We Were, is also a staple in the senshi/shittenou world imho. Fun and bringing in more elements from the show/manga it is definitely worth a read, don't let ff.net mean formatting deter you!

* Because of the fact that a lot of these characters have Japanese AND English names I'll ask the mods to tell me which they prefer. I've used the Japanese versions here.
** The gents in this fic and others have American or different Japanes names than used in the tags in most fics where they are included which usually has to do with the ~rebirth they undergo.
*** Also the Minako Aino/Kunzite, Rei Hino/Jedite, Ami Mizuno/Zoicite (not Zoycite, who is more commonly known as the dubbed America female version of the character), Makoto Kino/Nephrite are all usually considered, and clumped together as, the Senshi/Shittenou pairings in their corner of the fandom I think it would be fine when tagging this fic (and maybe future fics) to use senshi/shittenou as a tag for these four pairings. More often than not they are included together anyway. Mod's call, of course.
