Why This Must Be Read: Girl likes boy. Girl likes another boy. Boy is the same person. —Robin/Artemis/Dick. This is a rather an awesome fic that first converted me to the idea of Dick/Artemis. It's season one fic, so it has them still young. I just absolutely love the whole Artemis/Dick verses Artemis/Robin aspect of this, though you kind feel like "poor Artemis, she has no clue." Still, fun and well written.

Why This Must Be Read: When I first read the idea, I was entirely dubious. But this is a surprisingly well written fusion where Ariadne is actually a witch in Harry Potter's world, and how she comes into Cobb's Inception world with that history. Her relationships and viewpoints are tainted by her experiences, and the muggle world is suddenly just as complicated as her wizarding world. Very well written.

Why This Must Be Read: A Young Justice AU set to "The Breakfast Club." Need I say more? No, but seriously, the casting in this was flawless, and the characterization of each person shined through surprisingly well for transplanting them into a new non-superhero setting. Especially Artemis, whose loud-mouth casting as Bender is just epically awesome. It's got a deft touch and hits all the spots that made the Breakfast Club movie so classic, and yet balances that out with the YJ characterization.

Why This Must Be Read: So I've been lurking on this LJ for awhile, reaping all the benefits of not having to trawl through heaps of fic to get to the good ones, but I've never really been tempted to post a rec of my own...but this author has totally made me grab an account and start reccing. This particular fic is a what if story where Batman's sudden death leaves the Team without a mentor and the Justice League without one of their important members. So what do they do? Call Catwoman in, of course. In this fic, Catwoman happens to have been married to Batman, and is "reformed," but still retains all the badass-ery that makes her, well, Catwoman. It also makes her a hilarious and oddly touching mentor for the Team. The characterization is spot on for all the characters, and I really particularly enjoyed the serving of Artemis/Wally, complete with banter and teasing and adorable-ness. This fic might be most notable for the excellent dynamics between Team members (particularly the friendships between Wally & Dick, M'Gann & Dick, Artemis & Connor) and between Catwoman and the Team as she struggles with her new role. The team is initially wary of her, but are starting to warm up per the last update. A really great, fun read that I'm happy to have stumbled upon.

Why This Must Be Read: First of all, I am a sucker for a good roadtrip fanfic. Secondly, I absolutely adore the slow reveal of the reasons for why Wally and Artemis broke up prior to the opening. Third, I love that the author shows how good Wally and Artemis are together - their banter, how well they know each other– and give the audience a good chunk of word count in which these two are happy together - it's not like 'emotion problem resolved - bam, the end.'

Also, I really enjoyed Robin and Zatanna's supporting roles.

Why This Must Be Read: I'm combining the "this must be read" part for these, because even though they're totally separate fics, I think of them in tandem. Because they are Artemis meets the Wests fics and GREAT. One of my favorite things to think about with these two (or before season two started anyway) was the prospect of Wally bringing Artemis home to meet his parents, because his life is so completely different than hers. And both of these take that premise and execute it so incredibly well that I want to read them again and again. You will as well.

mekosuchinae writes such amazing fic! B) This fic is adorable! M'gann tries her hand at match making and everything kinda turns around on it self and matchmakes herself? Such is the life of a teenage alien superhero! The handle on the characters and ships is so layered and real. These kids are flawed and caring and wonderful. Not to mention the relationship between M'gann and Superboy (at this moment in time he had not chosen his Earth name yet, fyi) is heartwarming like warm cookies.
