Why This Must Be Read | This is the story that changed my fic reading habits. It's all the things I would NEVER usually read. It's got Mark Sloan in it for starters. And it's Mark/Lexie futurefic. And, probably most significantly of all, it's babyfic. But I relented and read it anyway. And it's brilliant. And showed me that all of these things that I would never want to happen on my show can be completely captivating in fic. And for anyone put off by the idea of babyfic like I initially was, it's not at all what I was expecting and I dare you to try it! But as much as she hadn’t wanted a hypothetical baby, an actual baby she couldn’t make herself not want. With all they had been through in the past year, with all Lexie had ever been through...Well, she knew life was short and there wasn’t always a later.

Why This Must Be Read: This is the start of the author's "marshalldeadverse", which is how the first one starts. Marshall dies, and somehow Lily has to move on. The tragedy and heart-break is SO palpable, and some of the parts in this series have made me cry *like anywhere from tight-chested choking up to full on sobbing). Some involve some pretty graphic sex scenes, so warning there, but mostly everything is incredibly well written - and totally depressing, but in such a good way. The evolution of Lily and Barney's relationship is so well done, and so in character. I can't say enough good things about this series, it's mind-blowing and so, so sad but so, so freaking good.

Why This Must Be Read:Reason 1- Because this is where the show should have headed after that shooting. Izzie comes back and faces the issues behind her leaving, stands beside her friends while they deal with the trauma, and patches up her marriage. Reason 2- Because Izzie is truly Alex's only exception, and this fic displays the hows and whys perfectly. Reason 3- Nobody writes this pairing like this author. Darley has written a frightening number of terrific Alex/Izzie fics, but i can't rec them all, unfortunately. So just check her profile and be awed by her talent.

abvj 's work is what made me REALLY love this pairing, this fic is so lovely. Giving us the little hidden moments during season 5 between these two characters, and their relationship that nobody saw coming, including themselves. I love how she writes both Mark and Lexie, especially them together. This is a good intro fic for them, but really read the author's other works. So good. And because it's special rec I'm going to cheat a bit and link back to another fic from the same author, about the same pairing, that I've posted on the comm before. The Long Way Home (NC-17).

She creates a really great OC in this story who is absolutely impossible not to fall in love with. She took something Meredith once asked Derek about him and Addison and basically makes a whole story from it.

A description from the author herself: This takes place in New York on the night that Addison slept with Mark. Meredith once asked Derek if it would have been different (between him and Addison) if they had kids. Well, this is going to explore what would have happened.

Short but evocative, set late season 1 Supernatural/season 2 Grey's, with an ambiguously happier ending than both.

Why This Must Be Read: Sure, the PWP challenge is over, but who ever said no to some porn? This is an odd rec for me as I'm not even watching Grey's Anatomy anymore, but some random YT clicking and here I am! Mark and Lexie are surprisingly adorable and functional together. This fic is just that, except with some really hot (and realistic) car sex. They quip, flirt and are genuinely into each other even with the cloud of Meredith/Derek over them. Why This Must Be Read: What happens when Addison's booty call is diverted by a certain blonde intern? Once Upon a Booty Call by Tivo explains exactly that with hot, dirty sexing that leaves you want a McSteamy of your own. She uses the storyline supply by the writers of the show to her advantage, creating a relationship between Mark and Izzie that some wish the show would have explored before Mark and Lexie happened, not that I'm complaining because I am an equal opportunity shipper when it comes to this show. It starts off with sex, it ends with a prelude to sex and yet the story in between is worth the read. Finding out about Mark, Izzie, Mark's friendship with Derek, the arrival of people into their lives who come to mean more than they thought they ever could. This is truly awesome porn with plot.
