Why This Must Be Read: I loved this crossover. Susan finds herself in Mirkwood forest, unsure of why Aslan has brought her there. Eventually she meets Legolas. What is great is that Susan is not a Mary Sue in this story, but she does have a grand adventure and we get to see the events of the LOTR series through her eyes. I also really enjoyed the various meetings between Susan and Legolas as they slowly fall in love. Very well done crossover.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a lush, history-rich continuation of the Narnia series, with Peter fighting behind enemy lines in France during WWII. The use of mythology here is just stunning, as are the connections from our world to Narnia. I'm normally skeptical of original characters in fanfiction, but Marie (the OFC here) is wonderfully written and serves a very distinct purpose in the story. Beautiful and poignant, this is a story that has stuck with me ever since I read it.

"But Narnia is my world!" Peter retorted, resisting the urge to kick a stone like the child to whose body he would be returned.

The god frowned and Peter heard a roll of thunder and a cracking of artillery shells with his disapproval. "Aslan belongs to many worlds, High King, and I as well. If you are able to give your love to only one place, you are not the man I thought."

Why This Must Be Read: Putting Susan and the Doctor together is one of those combinations that never occurred to me until I encountered it here. The awesomeness inherent in his pairing just clicked for me as I read this story: Susan is wise and brilliant and practical, a Queen of Narnia to the bone (with all the loneliness that that implies), and is simply amazing as a companion for the Doctor here - a true equal.

Why This Must Be Read: The first in the Blades of Narnia series, the story focuses on Edmund and the many lingering issues he has regarding his actions during the conflict with the White Witch. Edmund wrestles with his guilt and his innate belief in his unworthiness to be a king of Narnia, while also attempting to head off yet another war. In the meanwhile, Asha, the OFC, must deal with issues of her own, as she at first seeks revenge for the deaths of her parents, but then finds herself stuck in the company of one of the people responsible for her pain. Both characters are equally fascinating, as is their journey together. The story fairly keeps to the book's canon, but the subsequent stories in the series take the characters in a wide, alternate direction.

Why This Must Be Read: This is a wonderful story that fills in many of the blanks of A Horse and His Boy. The characterization in this story, is perfect, and each of the main characters develops over time. I also love the connection with the Pevensies and the interaction between Narnian and Archenland. This story deserves recognition and commendation! This is definitely one of the best stories I've seen for this pairing.

Nobody knew for sure how Lord Bar succeeded in kidnapping Cor, but somebody suspected. When Cor and Aravis discover this, they take it upon themselves to investigate.

Why This Must Be Read: I had no idea how desperately I needed Lucy/Tumnus fanfic until I read this story. Told over many years, it builds a steady attraction between them that is both believable and sensitive to the age issue, allowing Lucy to grow up before the sexy times start. The world is as rich and fantastical as the one C.S. Lewis created, except this time around we get to see what faun sexuality might be like on a Midsummer Night's Eve! Wonderful characterizations and an entrancing world make for an unforgettable read.

Why This Must Be Read: Lucy sailed to the end of the world with Caspian. This story is told in a series of vignettes, taking place in 'current time' and also in Narnia, what happens to Lucy after she returns from Narnia the last time, and what happened during her journey on the Dawn Treader. The words are perfect for Lucy's characterization, both in her 'current' time, and while she's a Queen of Narnia. Her relationship with Caspian feels real in its blossoming, and is very sweet, and while the story is very much a Lucy story, Caspian plays a large part in it.

Why This Must Be Read: Immediately after Prince Caspian came out, I went searching for fix-it fic, and if I remember right, there was a lot to be found. I sifted through quite a bit of badfic before I found this gem. It was quickly added onto my favorite's list, and re-read several times during the lapses between Caspian and Dawn Treader. And Ye Shall Receive is eloquently worded, breathtakingly original, and absolutely beautiful. There is something magical and even Narnian about this fic. It also fits into canon almost seamlessly, which is no easy feat. Even if you aren't sure about Susan/Caspian, I would encourage you to give this one a shot if only because it is a fantastic take on Susan's redemption story!
