Why This Must Be Read: Right, so fated_addiction just writes phenomenal fic in general and especially for Usagi/Mamoru, but this is is just out of this world. She builds an AU within the canon that exists in the manga and manages to pull out some of the most amazing Usagi characterisation ever. It's a bit of a What If verse and Usagi starts on the journey to becoming Sailor Moon a bit differently with the players switched around some, but even with all these changes one thing remains: she's the glue and that's so true for the fic too. Usagi binds this fic together and her relationship with Mamoru during this journey of self discovery highlights ever.

But really, just read all of fated_addiction's Usagi/Mamoru fic if you get a chance.

Why This Must Be Read: So it's obvious I really like AUs. And if it wasn't I REALLY LIKE THEM, sorry! tosca1390 also has really excellent fic for these two too, but I love AUs! This AU is currently two fics, which is why I'm reccing both at once and this is a great one because I'm not honestly a big Sailor Moon fic reader for Usagi/Mamoru but I saw this one and it's so perfect. Political AUs for this narrative should happen more often because it lends itself so well to what already exists for the characters. Usagi is unchanged here, just older, but still on a mission to do good and make a change. Mamoru is still on the path to be a doctor and thanks to these paths and their friends their paths cross and it's the loveliest. Their relationship here is so supportive and it just flows. Also I love the roles the other senshi play in this AU and how the Dark Kingdom is introduced. Perfection!

Why This Must Be Read: I came across this series by accident but it's been one of the best ones. I know very little of this series outside the films, but this fic makes me interested I have to say. An AU series of interconnected drabbles that are based on the sole idea of: what if Bella grew up in Forks. The drabbles start out when Bella is very young and continue on as she grows up, raised by her dad, and by association the Black family. Lovely snap shots from Bella's child hood being raised alongside the Black children and Leah Clearwater (so good in this fic!) and how it shapes her life. Jacob and Bella happen later on in the fic, but really, the fic is wonderful exploration of the connection they had children and how it evolves into something deeper as they grow.

Why This Must Be Read: There was another fic I wanted to rec but the end is kinda dissapointing and unfilling so you get my back up. Short and sweet moment between Luke and Lorelai full of banter and layers of feeling between them. It also includes my second favourite thing about them as ship: the connection Luke has with Rory.

Why This Must Be Read: What if Chris had stayed away as Rory asked him and that entire plotline with Emily hadn't occured? Well, here's a version of what could have happened. It starts with Luke going to Rory's dormroom ready to ask her a very important question. Lovely and sweet rewrite with a much happier ending. (Sidenote: one of the few fics I've read that I don't completely dismiss out of my dislike for Logan's charcter. This author actually makes me tolorate the guy! Success!)

Why This Must Be Read: There's not much fic I've found for this show, but out of all the fic out there this is the best. Perfect fic for this show. Jess' POV is flawless, hilarious, awkward and sweet and how she travels hooking up with Nick is perfect because it comes kinda almost out of nowhere and spirals out of her control pretty fast. Sex does that apparently, and they're having all of it. Excellent fic with amazing moments with supporting character. Like in the show Schmidt is too much and too hilarious in this.

Why This Must Be Read: Oh Dan and Blair, the ship tumblr and season 4, I think, made me care about but they're so precious to me now. The socialite and the writer, the dreamer and the realist, the ones that want and think and think about everything they want. Also, the ones with the best ship construction the show has done. This fic is great for them. It's set in mid season three where they both start to move past their prescribed — and excepted by others — intolerance for each other and start getting somewhat closer. Using a line from Breakfast at Tiffany's, which is a brilliant move on the author on it's own merits, the "mean reds" is exactly how their relationship with the fic begins: afraid of what the other means. Dan and Blair do something that changes their perspective on each other. At least Dan's at first and then it's when starts getting complicated because they're not supposed to like each other. Here, Dan and Blair are snippy and snarky as each other always but they slowly fine that past all they say they hate about each other is someone that they don't hate at all.

Why This Must Be Read: The fic that took my mild affection for Andromeda Black and SKYROCKETED IT TO LOVE. Favourite Black sister now! This is first of all excellently written and characterised. The tale of Andromeda Black growing up in house hold and in a world that is normal and comfortable to her, even if she doesn't agree with everyone or everything in it, it's her world, her family, and she loves them. But it's also the tale of how she grows and realises that maybe her family and friends aren't the people they and she think they are. It all starts to change when she goes to Hogwarts and meets a young boy called Ted Tonks, who for the rest of her time at Hogwarts will bug her, push her to think about her life in ways that she's not used too, and ultimately fall for her. Told exclusively through Andromeda's point of view the author manages to give more life and humanity to the people we will later know as Harry Potter's greatest enemies, namely Bella Black. Seriously, Bella and Narcissa through their sister's eye are made so human, because they're so loved by Andromeda that it hurts a little to know their future. We also get to see hints of the Marauders as the story progresses, but this story is first and foremost about Andromeda Black. The middle sister, the one who tried to keep her sister together, her world together but ultimately realised it just wasn't meant to be. And maybe for the best.

Why This Must Be Read: Fun and realistically joyous look at the last few months of the show and first year or so of Zuko's time as Firelord told through, mostly, Mai's point of view. You can see clearly see how much Zuko and Mai care for each other during the time they are apart after "The Boiling Rock" and how their relationship continues after Team Avatar saves the world. Delightfully funny at some points, you can clearly hear the character's voices throughout this fic because Zuko, let's face it is a dorkface but Mai loves him anyway. There are also lovely friendship moments with almost every one of the kids, especially Suki and Mai who would really make the most awesome of friends.

Why This Must Be Read: I find, thus read, so little from the Bat Clan world, but Barbara and Dick have always been one of my favourite ships ever in the Batman verse. This is one of my favourite fics of them. I love how it's about them trying to fit each other in their lives with all the baggage they carry with them. Also, Dick is so totally smitten with Barbara you can't help but love how dorky he is towards her.

Why This Must Be Read: I can't really pinpoint why I like this fic so much. It's my go to fic for the (tiny tiny) fandom, especially for the characterisations of Cleo's sister and mother. Super awesome ladies, those Everlasting ladies are. (More of them in the sequel, fyi.) Cleo and Orphen are perfectly in character--they are like two kids in the playground throwing sand at each other to hide how MUCH they care--but there is growth here and you can see just how deeply they do care. Interesting interpretations of these characters pasts, I love that it focuses not only on Cleo and Orphen but on the anime's other characters as well, even adds a few of it's own.
