Why This Must Be Read: I thought for a while which pairing I could rec for this day, and then, I realised you can't get much more old school than Mary Poppins. Ten years after the end of the movie, the winds bring Mary Poppins back to the Banks who seem to have forgotten her lessons. This is a really beautiful where they're all in-character. Plus, there's the ship we all wanted to see happen, but of course P.L. Travers said that no, absolutely not, there's nothing between Mary and Bert (yeah, I don't think we've seen the same movie either :P). And now, I think I'm going to go rewatch the movie. :D

Why This Must Be Read: I have shipped these two since I first saw this movie as a little girl.  The author does a great job of keeping both Mary and Bert in character.  This story takes place many years after the movie, Mary comes to visit Bert and the ensuing conversation is both serious and whimsical.  This is such a delightfully lovely story and has become my head canon as to what happened to the two of them after the movie ended.  Enjoy!  :)

Why This Must Be Read: Bert and Mary meet again during the Blitz. It's lyrical and lovely, bittersweet and understated. I also love the historical touches--I've been reading a bit about the Blitz lately and have been just knocked off my feet by some of the things I've learned. This fits in perfectly with all those little details about life during the attacks and the way people responded to them while still keeping the characters so quintessentially themselves. Heck, I don't even really read Mary Poppins fic, but I'm glad I took a chance on this one. :-)
