Day 19 - An angsty fic.
Fandom Category: Harry Potter
Pairing: Lily Evans/James Potter
Fic Title: When Saints Die, The World Stops Spinning
Author: forsakenphoenix
Link: http://www.harrypotterfanfiction.com/viewstory.php?psid=104085
Rating/Warning(s): 15+. Canon character death.
Genre: Angst, Romance
WIP?: No.
Why This Must Be Read: Hope, loyalty, love, despair, and tragedy. Through it all, Lily discovers the truth about the Marauders, the affable troublemakers who hide behind smokescreens but still glitter in shattered light. They aren't the glorious, graceful men they are often perceived as, but stumbling, awkward boys who are still trying to find their way out of darkness.
Instead of stumbling around and babbling incoherently, I'm going to leave you with one of the reviews to the story:
Any doubts Lily had the previous night vanish as she walks down the aisle. She smiles brightly (almost outshining Sirius today) as she approaches the alter. Lily never imagined marrying James Potter. In her fifth year, she would have told you that the odds of her even being friends with James were slim. But when she’s standing beside him, vows tumbling from her lips, she knows that she wouldn’t want to marry anyone else.
Lily rests her head on James’ shoulder as the reception nears an end. Her feet hurt and she’s too tired to dance, so she is barefoot, standing on scuffed shoes while James slowly dances her in circles.
‘I love you,’ James says, pulling her closer to his body.
‘I know,’ she replies. She stands on tiptoes, borrowing height, and presses a short and sweet kiss to his lips.
And it’s this memory of slowing time and sweet kisses that Lily remembers most about her wedding.

it's just... you write them as imperfect and special and lily as something binding and whole that comforts as well as seeking comfort. its the world and the people in it explained in four different people. the broken the beaten the bruised. all of those who help yet find it hard to seek help. the destructive and the mending, the hurt and the whole. people who remain faceless and in shadows when compared to those that seem naturally attractive to us. the mothers, the fathers, the broken children. all of it.
i cry at the start at how sad it all is, i keep crying. i cry at the end because of the injustice and lies. yet i'm not depressed because i know that the truth helps. that the people so broken found what they needed - even if it was evil and cruel - because its how it is supposed to be.
