Day 17 - A short fic

Fandom Category: Beauty and the Beast (1991)
Pairing: Belle/Beast
Fic Title: Fur

Rating/Warning(s): NC-17 (Porn Battle fic; includes rough sex and explicit sexual content)
Genre: Drama/Smut/Stream of Conscious
WIP?: No.

Why This Must Be Read: "Some nights I dream I'm back in the cupboard". This manages to be erotic, claustrophobic, and pulse-pounding in so short a time, and focuses on Belle's emotions after marriage, after they've all been transformed back, and how it relates to her attitude toward the marriage bed. Written for Porn Battle several years ago, this still sticks with me as being impactful and erotic, all in under 300 words.

Plus More in A Mighty Wind, The African Queen, Adventures of Brisco County Jr., The Little Mermaid, Burn Notice, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Hairspray, Evil Dead Series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Venture Brothers, The Secret Garden, The Addams Family (Movies), Moonlighting and Caroline in the City )

Pairing: Ariel/Eric
Fic Title: Bright Things

Rating/Warning(s): Teen and Up
WIP?: No.

Why This Must Be Read: A happier take on "after happily ever after" than the gorgeous but tragic Seeing Your World From The Outside, this fic takes note of the things Ariel missed from under the sea but also remembers her joy surrounding the human world.  The author weaves the conflicting desires together beautifully, and Eric's perspective contextualizes her new life within an interesting broader picture.

Rating/Warning(s): PG13
Genre: Character
WIP? No
Special Rec: 19/31

Why This Must Be Read: While there's something to be said for a Disney ending -- the hero and heroine riding (swimming?) off into the sunset, good vanquishing evil, happily ever after's for all -- there's also something refreshing about reading a story about what what came after the after. In this story, Northlight shows us an Ariel who's beginning to realise that while she may have got everything she wanted, maybe she didn't quite understand what those wants were. Well written, this story will make you think about what happens when the music stops.
