Why This Must Be Read: This is an AU in which (adult) Trip is part of a student exchange and ends up on Vulcan. He stays with T'Pol, who's back home from Earth for a few months, and her mother. A lot of their relationship issues from the show come up again here in different ways but all of it feels very fresh. Misplaced doesn't lean too heavily on canon, only taking what is absolutely necessary from it (including characters), nor does she go so far afield that it doesn't feel like the same world anymore.
