Why This Must Be Read: The Harry Potter fandom scares me. A lot. But when I was laid up with a back injury a couple years ago, a friend recced this one to me on the basis that it was long and good and I couldn't move. And it was long and good!

Basically, the story is about an original character, a seamstress of Hufflepuff, who is working on a secret mission for Dumbledore in the village of Hogsmeade. There is intrigue, hilarity, perfect Potterisms, wonderful tie-ins with canon events....oh, and the romance isn't so bad either. There is also an entirely constructed history of Invisibility Cloaks that is wonderfully done.

Characters (in addition to the pairing): Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, Dumbledore, Ginny Weasley, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley

So yes, it's Harry Potter and yes, it's the dreaded OC...but it's still wonderful! (There's also continuation stories on the author's profile page...you should totally follow it up with A Kind and Caring Friend.)

Why This Must Be Read: Kerri is a wonderful writer and any D/HR fan who hasn't read this fic hasn't read D/HR fandom. It's just that good. Starts out a little slow, but after a while and you'll be like me. Sitting at the edge of your seat anxiously awaiting the next chapter. The relationship between BZ/PP is very interesting as well, becasue it's not one of the most reinforced pairings in the fandom but this story does great.

Why This Must Be Read: A ficlet for the holiday season. It's light and sweet and stays true to canon even while pairing these two characters together. It's perfectly believable UST without being angsty or dramatic. Very well done and enjoyable in a "what if" sort of way.

Why This Must Be Read: For those of us who like stories where we see Harry take control (no pun intended) of his life, this is probably one of the better stories out there. With a little help, Harry begins to prepare himself as war engulfs the Wizarding World and nearly all of the adults around him continue to try to wrap him in cotton. Ginny's part in this fic too is not unsignificant. Though not the focus of the story, Ginny provides a strong presence and shoulder for Harry to lean on when he needs it (especially when Ron and Hermione get on his case, which happens fairly often). The build up of the romance in the story is also very well-written. An excellent story.
