Why This Must Be Read:

Music and Lyrics is on a short list of movies which I have seen many times over, and I was delighted to find that somebody had written fanfiction for it. Even better, it's good fanfiction, and not too short (13,519 words total).

Taking place after the end of the movie, the premise is that PoP is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The story greatly expands Alex's backstory, and his strained relationship with his former bandmates. There's also some lovely moments between Alex and Sophie.

Rating/Warning(s): R
Genre: Epic, post-series
WIP?: Complete

Why This Must Be Read: This story includes a great mystery, and includes many flashbacks that show how our characters got to where they are in the present. It's not a shippy story per se, but it will bring joy to the hearts of L/V shippers.

Fandom Category: Alias
Pairing: Sydney Bristow/Will Tippin
Fic Title: What Julia Knew
Author: Yahtzee

Rating/Warning(s): NC-17 for violence, sex and mentions of sexual abuse
Genre: Drama, Angst
WIP?: No

Why This Must Be Read:

This is an AU in which instead of Will going into witness protection, he chooses to become a full agent. Sydney, who is pretending to be Julia Thorne, sees him on a mission - and this changes the course of events completely as she gets back in touch with him and with her father.

Sydney in this story is very, very screwed up. The false memories given to her as part of her conditioning include alternative identities for her parents and many of her friends - portraying them as villians so that if she ever saw them she would kill them. While she knows these memories are false, she has trouble coping with them. The only person untainted by these memories is Will, and he becomes her main support.

The story can be quite dark and upsetting, but it's also gripping, well-written, and the pairing works really perfectly. Around 40,000 words in length, it's one of the most memorable Alias stories I have read.
