Why This Must Be Read: It's pretty much a requirement in the Elizabeth/Jack 'ship side of the PotC fandom that if you're going to write them, at least one of your fic's has to be post-Dead Man's Chest (and a rehash of that kiss), so it's always a lovely surprise when you come across one that stands out. With clear writing, spot on characterisations, and pitch-perfect dialogue, Glinda shows us a glimpse as to what could have been after the credits rolled, but before the next title card appeared. Just lovely.

Why This Must Be Read: Jack/Tess is my favorite 'ship from Eureka, but there's a dearth of fanfic for it. I wish there were more! So, I'm particularly pleased when I find a story as good as this one, for a rare pairing in a small fandom.

What makes this story work so well for me is that it understands what Tess meant to Jack, while still acknowledging his affinity with Allison. It captures the dynamic of both relationships, circa the end Season Three, beautifully:

He'd always care for Allison, but somehow, these few weeks of getting to know Tess Fontana--the part of him that had been bound up in the slightest gesture from Stark's once-and-future-wife for what felt like forever was letting go, little by little. Which, paradoxically, was making it easier to be there for Allison, be the supportive friend she really needed right now.

Why This Must Be Read: The Duplicate Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler finally have their Happily Ever After. The problem with Happily Ever After is that it's really boring.

The WORST alien threat can be thwarted with Hershey's Bars. Even the Daleks are gay and just want to make love, not war:

Don't ask me how it works, what with the tin-can-full-of-squiddy-bits thing they've got going on, but they just sort of show up every once in a while to hand out sex-positive literature and sneer at our decorating.

"Eight Days a Week" is one of the funniest fanfics I've read in a good long time.

"You love me anyway." He's said it probably hundreds of times since they were first assigned to work together, but there's an odd sort of freedom in saying it and knowing it's true, rather than just trying to rile her as much as possible.
