Why This Must Be Read: The best characterization of Santana Lopez ever. In fact, I like this version of Santana so much more than the canon one, and I like canon!Santana a lot. The way the author portrays Matt and Santana's friendship as this long, dark, wonderful, fucked up thing is just perfect, and all the relationships seem real and possible, and it's just a very real fic overall. You feel for this Santana and Matt, both as friends and as more. Also, the fact that she uses Carmen Sandiego as a character is just perfect, and not nearly as cracky as you think. Just, go read this story. It's the best non-ensemble piece of Glee fanfiction I've ever read.

Why This Must Be Read: Best Vocal Adrenaline fic in existence anywhere. This is a fic about the Jesse we never got to see in the show, and goes so far into and explains his character so well that suddenly his actions in the show make so much more sense. Here, Jesse is real and sad and angry and falling in love when he's not really supposed to. He has problems and triumphs and listens to sad music and gets drunk with his friends when he doesn't want to deal with things. And that's the best part of this fic: Vocal Adrenaline and Jesse's relationship with them. I'm always hoping the author will do more VA stuff, because she has them down perfectly. And her parentheses, dear Gods! I'm pretty sure parentheses were invented just so this author could use them in her stories. This fic is just perfect. Go read it.

Why This Must Be Read: this is a wondefully evocative epilogue to the movie. Marion and Robin wed clandestinely, and Robin discovers a sense of faith and hope through his feelings for her. It's truly beautiful and poetic.
