Why This Must Be Read:Just like at the end of season three, Elena gets turned by Dr. Fell. She gave Elena vampire blood to help heal her from the cerebral hemorrhage that no one knew she had. Elena has no clue that she has vampire blood in her system when she drinks the exlir that will end her life. Due to a bunch of voice messages, Elijah realizes that Elena is dying and takes Jeremy with him on a road trip to help Elena. I love that Elena becomes more proactive and ends her life on her own terms instead of Rebekah forcing her hand. I can' t wait to see where this story goes. Elijah teaching Elena to become a vampire is one of the things I wanted most on the show. The family bond between Jeremy and Elena as being shown as just as important as the sibling bond between Damon and Stefan, and Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah makes me happy and I can't wait to see what happens next between Elena/Jeremy, Elena/Elijah, and Elijah/Jeremy. Plus, I love roadtrip fics which it seems like the three of them are on.

Why This Must Be Read: I love the slow realistic build up between Elena and Elijah. None of their interaction feels like it is just there to make them become a couple faster than they would otherwise. I love how you deal with all the other characters in this story. The plot of this story could easily been on the show. Slow plotty fics are my weakness, and this definately hit all my buttons. I also love that you touched on Elijah and Tatia in this story. It felt like something that would be brought up between them. Elena is a copy of a copy of the woman that Elijah first loved. That has to be strange for both of them.

Why This Must Be Read: first, you must know it comes from the best stelena author around. Second, it's scorching hot and intense without really being about sex- it's only two characters being so deeply entwined with and within each other than no love triangle can truly touch that. Also the story is a perfect filler between episode 2.19 and 2.20: Stefan expresses his uneasiness with the 'psituation' between his girlfriend and brother, and Elena proceeds to express where her heart stands where both brothers are concerned. While this is a beautiful piece of writing in general, it stayed with me because it sdepicts so very well how when Stefan and Elena talk, there's no deception of themselves or each other. They are shamelessly, effortlessly open and honest with each other, even when it stings a little- it's like they are physically unable to be anything else than that.

"You can feel more than one thing at once." She says softly.
"For Damon?" Stefan asks quietly and she can't bring herself to look back at him.
"For you both."
"Love?" He asks, like it's the saddest thing in the world and she nods, only once.
She turns her head and instinctively starts to walk towards him; the expression on his face a mixture of hurt and unwilling acceptance for the things she was telling him, like they were things he already knew but didn't want to believe.
"I'm in love with you. Always will be."
"Damon?" He repeats, stepping back and sinking down against the bed.
"You." She retorts, sliding her way between his legs, gathering her hands around his head, lifting it.
"Years from now, tomorrow, yesterday."
She presses a kiss to his forehead as his hands come back around her waist, "Always." She repeats, brushing her nose down his face.

Why This Must Be Read: Onscreen, the passionate purity of the connection between Stefan and Elena is something that never bores or tires me. This stort story pays a direct homage to that, and it also hits the nail on its head on a peculiar moment : Elena leaves Stefan for Damon, but, inevitably, she realizes she made a mistake. Because Stefan and Elena just can't live without being part of each other. The fic is told on Stefan's POV, yet Elena's regret and longing shine through brilliantly all the same. It's devastation after a disaster and the healing reunion that follows Stefan's departure from his hometown, after Elena chases breavely after her man.

Why This Must Be Read: the wonders of a freshly turned, hyper-emotional but oh-so-in-character Vampire Elena in the woods with her-desperately-trying-to-stay-stoic Stefan. No need to say, things between them get even more intense than usual when Elena decides to 'gently' coax the monster out of her man. Stefan and Elena are already beautiful onscreen: what makes their love so wonderful is their unlimited capacity for mutual acceptance, the way they take care of each other so completely without ever stifling each other. Well, I can only say this fic portrays that part of their relationship magnificently.

Why This Must Be Read: Um, this fic is not serious business. It is almost crackish humor, but not quite. Basically, this is a type of fic where the author just throws all the characters together and you get a lot of hilarious one-liners and no concept of plot whatsoever. Seriously. If you're looking for plotty fic with excellent characterization - this fic isn't it.

Summary: Elena and Stefan plan a "normal" day at the beach, hoping it'll get Bonnie and Damon to finally befriend each other after all they've been through. But a stubborn vampire and pissed off witch is not something you want at the beach.
