Why This Must Be Read: I know this fandom is all about Snow/Charming and true love, but I prefer my love a little less true. This fic does a perfect job of fleshing out the going-nowhere-and-proud-of-it Mary Margaret/Dr. Whale pairing and making it believable, healthy and fun. The characters and their motivations are human and relatable and real. There's an honesty between them that was present both in the canon scene in the diner, and by extension, all through the fic. Attraction doesn't have to mean love, and that's okay, even in Storybrooke. I also love the way Mary Margaret's relationship with Whale helps give Mary Margaret more confidence regarding David, and how even Whale is cool with that despite not getting the girl.
