Why This Must Be Read: When I think of epic fics, I think of long, plotty, engaging fics that explore some facet of canon that the writers never thought about. This fic is one of my favorite epic SGA fics, and it is glorious in all the right ways. It takes the episode "Before I Sleep," arguably one of the best episodes of SGA, and then makes it even better. The story is simple - what if both the alternative version of John and Elizabeth survived the original expedition, only to travel back 10,000 years to the times of the Ancients. What would happen? What would be the outcome? This story takes that AU idea and explores it thoroughly. Gorgeously written plot that explores the times of the Ancients as they fight against the Wraith - and are losing.
