Fandom Category: NCIS
Pairing: Ziva David/Tony Dinozzo
Fic Title: The Flavor of the Wind
Author:
littlesammy
Link: http://littlesammy.livejournal.com/207905.html (master post, they're so handy!)
Rating/Warning(s): R, This is a historical AU, set in a time and place when slavery was common, and it involves slave!Tony and slave trader!Ziva, so please be aware of this before you go in. (taken straight from the master post.)
Genre: historical AU, romance, UST/RST
WIP?: nope
Why This Must Be Read: First of all, yes, Tony is a slave in this fic and yes, that can bring up some issues, but I found that the author handled the situation very well. The slavery aspect of the fic is not romanticised but it is also not treated foolishly. The author clearly understood how this and worked at writing a full formed, realistic, but respectful piece of fiction. That all said, I went into the fic with a curiosity. It's so rare to read a AU for this fandom and almost immediately found myself immersed. This fic is full of such rich writing! For being and AU and historical one at that the characters are very much themselves and familiar in a unfamiliar setting. Set in the Moroccan desert in early 1900s, it depicts a story of a man and woman, who despite their many cultural difference and status manage to form a friendship (one riddled with UST and tension, mind you) that grows into a relationship that neither wanted nor saw coming.
It's a lovely piece of writing you should check out.
( and one more! )
