With all the fun of the Cage Match, I started rewatching The X-Files from season 1. In order to prevent any spoilers to myself since it's been something like 15 years since I last watched it, I've been searching all over for good early series fics and I have a few to offer here.

Why This Must Be Read: This deals so well with the aftermath of "Irresistible" and Scully's kidnapping by Pfaster. It also just shows Mulder's sweet side.

He also knew he was selfish. The best course of action would be to request a transfer for her. As the senior agent in the department, he was entitled. She would get mad, but she'd be safe. Skinner would probably be relieved. But Mulder couldn't bring himself to push her away. She was his anchor.

Without her, he'd drift away.
