More and more lately I’m beginning to think that Ron/Hermione might be my #1 OTP ‘ship of all time, so this post is dedicated to them, whom I ‘shipped the moment they met on the Hogwarts Express.
Fandom Category: Harry Potter
Pairing: Hermione Granger/Ronald Weasley
Fic Title: Hermione, Queen of Witches (books 1 through 5)
Author: Arabella
Link: | Book 1 | Book 2 | Book 3 | Book 4 | Book 5 |
Rating/Warning(s): PG
Genre: General; UST
WIP?: Book 5 is the only incomplete one in this series
Why This Must Be Read: These stories follow the timeline of the books, but from Hermione’s POV. Joining her is her own Enchanted Diary, Guinevere, who talks to and listens to Hermione as she makes her way through Hogwarts. Arabella’s first person(ish) Hermione here is my definitive Hermione fanon voice. Hermione is as I imagine her in the books—smart, sometimes touchy, loyal, loving, funny, confused, and perfectly flawed, which is why she is interesting to readers. Guinevere is a great character, too, and her voice also comes out loud and clear. There’s lots and lots of fun and sweet and heartbreaking parts where Hermione tries to sort through her feelings for one Ronald Bilius Weasley.

Pairing: Hermione Granger/Ronald Weasley
Fic Title: Dare
Author: Arabella and B Bennett
Link: here
Rating/Warning(s): PG
Genre: Romance, a little angst
WIP?: No.
Why This Must Be Read: More great Hermione here—Arabella and B Bennett write a fully dimensional and in-character Hermione. They have a real knack for capturing the tone and spirit of JK Rowling’s writing. The premise is lots of fun, and leads to a lot of insight into the characters. Also, it shows what life is like the girls’ dormitory, which we never really see in the book, and what it must be like to share with Lavender and Parvati when your best friends are boys.
Fandom Category: Harry Potter
Pairing: Hermione Granger/Ronald Weasley
Fic Title: “Not as a Last Resort” and its sequel, “Getting to the Point”
Author: Arabella
Link: Not as a Last Resort | Getting to the Point
Rating/Warning(s): PG
Genre: Romance, angst
WIP?: No.
Why This Must Be Read: These two stories make my toes curl in all their loveliness. The hope was that by their fifth year Ron would finally get it, and while in canon it took him until his 7th year, this is a nice what-if, that is, if there had been a ball and if Ron and Hermione would have had enough time with each other without other romantic distractions to keep them apart.

Pairing: Hermione Granger/Ronald Weasley
Fic Title: Journey
Author: necdiva (Lavender Brown)
Link: here
Rating/Warning(s): PG to R
Genre: Romance, Angst
WIP?: Yes, but these are missing moments from HBP, so you aren’t necessarily left hanging.
Why This Must Be Read: Probably the best fic featuring Ron’s POV that I’ve read. While it also goes to Hermione’s POV, I particularly love the insight into Ron. Lavender Brown captures his humor and insecurity and his teenage boy confusion so well as he tries to sort out his feelings for Hermione, and figure out exactly why he’s with Lavender during the events of the Half-Blood Prince.
Fandom Category: Harry Potter
Pairing: Hermione Granger/Ronald Weasley
Fic Title: A Series of Definitions
Author: silviakundera

Rating/Warning(s): PG
Genre: Romance, Angst
WIP?: No.
Why This Must Be Read: A really gorgeous stylized one-shot that has excellent writing that tells a love story with a gentle touch. A recent discover, I can only hope to find more stories written with such care.

Fic Title: Summer Holidays

Rating/Warning(s): PG
Genre: Romance, Angst
WIP?: No.
Why This Must Be Read: Another story I’ve only recently found, and the best one I’ve found so far chronicling the aftermath of the War. It seems like it was written with a lot of love, a great deal of care, and with some wonderful wisdom that begins to tie things up so that we can believe that for the most part after everything that happen, the characters we live will come out of it ok.
