Why This Must Be Read: The clichés about first-time sex being like a whirlwind don't click with me very often, but something aboutblacktop50's characterization and use of description really works for me as a reader. Plus there's a certain amount of humor inherent to the idea that this pair's first time would happen in the back of Carter's squad car.
blacktop50 has a series of stories set in the same small world--some gen, some het. It begins with The Room Above Pooja's, a gen character study where Reese ended up renting a room above an Indian restaurant. As a (former) spy, he has multiple places to stay, but this is the one that has people who get involved in his life--a sort of home, if he were inclined to call it that. Mrs. Soni runs the restaurant, and her family slowly starts intertwining with Reese; the mixture of Reese's gray and dour existence with a colorful, lively one makes for a fun contrast.
This story paves the way for my two other 'official' (het) recs.

Plus the matter-of-fact way this shows Carter and Reese in an evolving relationship is thoroughly persuasive. (I don't want to ship them, but apparently resistance is futile.)
