Genre: romance, future fic
WIP?: no
Special Rec: 8/30

Why This Must Be Read: I'm putting these three fic into one rec post because while each one is a self contained story they are more of a series when looked at together. What I like best about how the author approaches Rachel and Puck is that they don't make excuses for them, instead they make understand them. Rachel and Puck aren't by any means nice people. They want to be, but sometimes fail at it and then try again, sometimes failing again. These fics are a little later in their lives, the first following Rachel's life after highschool and slowly we have Puck introduced. So, arguably, these versions of Puck and Rachel are a bit more settled into their skin, but they are not completely new people with their lives figured out.   The post highschool fic has become a staple in the Glee fanfiction world, and this one of the best ones I've read.

Pairing: Matt Rutherford/Quinn Fabray
Fic Title: This Couldn't be More Unexpected
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lexiesloan

Rating/Warning(s): PG, spoilers for the first half of Season 1
Genre: Romance, with hints of Drama and Angst
WIP?: No

Why This Must Be Read: Because it's one of the only fics in the fandom for this pairing (which is a pity), and it's beautifully written, plus it's an awesome look at a character that is ridiculously underutilized on the show. It follows them through several weeks of time, and really shows the development of their relationship through Matt's eyes. It's all very teenage and the little quirks of Matt and Quinn's personalities that the author throws in complement the story well. Overall, it's just a beautiful teenage romance story that manages to be funny and avoid being sappy by being very real. Plus, Matt/Quinn is such an awesome pairing that not being exposed to it at some point should be a crime.

Fic Title: sleep well, and when you dream
Author: anon

Rating/Warning(s): smut, teacher/student relationship
Genre: Drama
WIP? No

Why This Must Be Read: Absolutely, hands-down, the best Glee fic I've ever read. This takes the 'two characters are forced to share a bed and end up having sex' trope and does it better than I've ever seen it done before. It was written anonymously for the Glee kink meme, but it's 10,000+ words long and is absolutely worth setting aside some time for. The author writes these characters so skillfully and the whole thing is just incredibly absorbing.

Genre: Romance/Fantasy
WIP?: Yes.

Why This Must Be Read: Normally I'm not all for redos of my classic childhood favorites, but here the author has a delicately crafted and beautiful recasting on the students of McKinley High and their teachers. Not only does she write perfect versions of the storybook character (Can we not imagine Rachel Berry as the Chesire Cat?) but she maintains the feeling of ensemble in an openly paired fic, a difficult feat to manage.

Rating/Warning(s): NC-17, very graphic sex
Genre: Friendship/Romance
WIP?: Yes.

Why This Must Be Read: This clever story, originally a short of bits and moments during Quinn's pregnancy whilst living in the Puckerman household, has become sort of an epic novel. A dirty, perverted, but at the same time still sweet and in character one.

Fic Title: Conversations Between Two McKinley High Students

Rating/Warning(s): PG-13; spoilers until 1x05.
Genre: friendship, UST, humour, general romance.
WIP?: nope!

Why This Must Be Read: This fic is just wonderful and probably the fic that made I like this couple so much. It's completely adorable, true to each character, and funny as hell at times. Centered about the growing friendship between Puck and Rachel, it's really about their friendship, and the bridging the gap between two people who seem to have nothing in common and can't stand each other. It also has some lovely moments with the other characters, especially Puck's mom (who I love in this fic), and Quinn.

WIP?: no

Why This Must Be Read: Wow. For a show that has only aired one ep, the fandom seems to have exploded. I had to watch, simply to see what the fuss was about - and I approve! This author has written several Glee fics over the last few weeks, all of which I'm sure are as awesome as this one I'm reccing. She has the voices down pat. Rachel is the same earnest character she is on-screen, and Finn is adorkable. Lovely fic about their relationship, and the easiness of it.
