Why This Must Be Read: The meeting of these two characters just fits so well. It's so easy to imagine them meeting during their many years of space pirating in dingy bars, striking up a friendship, and then going about their merry space pirating ways. This fic does a wonderful job of inserting their meetings, time travel and all, and it does it naturally, not once making their meetings feel forced. There's even hot bar sex twice over.

Why This Must Be Read: This started out as the author making a Faith/Dean fanmix, then she wrote a series of drabbles to explain that. Now there is around 24,000 words spanning about 15 years of narrative time paired with nineteen songs. Great writing, plot that extends over time, and the two characters are written very well! And seriously, the sex between Dean and Faith would be hot, and you all know it. ;)

Why This Must Be Read: As both characters were played concurrently by the same actor, there are several fics where Denny Duquette actually is John Winchester. This, in my opinion, is one of the best. John's POV on being Denny and himself and both at the same time, while falling for Izzie and trying be strong enough to be there for Sam and Dean. Short but evocative, set late season 1 Supernatural/season 2 Grey's, with an ambiguously happier ending than both.
