Why This Must Be Read: A quiet, realistic story about two people moving forward and finding each other along the way. It's rare to come across a strong, believable story about this pairing, but this one really does justice to both of the characters and their potential together.

Why This Must Be Read: The most mature, most well plotted of the Dom/Ariadne fics in the LJ community. It is by far the longest fic in this ship. The romantic angle organically flows from the main story itself and thankfully Ariadne is not depicted as some sophomore undergrad. The tone is definitely adult and not YA.

Why this fic?: Follows much of BSG and Inception canon, although for Inception it is mostly post-movie. All characters have stayed in character. Though there is romance the overall scifiness of the whole piece is front and center. The balance of both fandoms in the story is very well maintained.

Why This Must Be Read: INSTA-REC. Summary: uncle sam wants YOU; the methods of evasion are strictly limited: also known as, the one where jeff and britta get married to save themselves from the law. Oh, god, this fic is wonderful and brilliant and so in-character and cracky just like the show. Only on Community, would I actually buy getting-married-to-avoid-tax-evasion-problems as a potential legit possibility. Jeff and Britta, they're both total opposites, but it always amazes me how they're sorta the same too. The author captures that perfectly. There are so many great Britta lines here, and she's a tough girl to POV from, because her rambling narration is hard to duplicate, but the author does it wonderfully.

Why This Must Be Read: Ever wondered what happened to Hotlips and Hawkeye after? Djinn takes a fairly common what-if (Hotlips and Hawkeye reunite in America) but does so in one of the most realistic ways I've seen yet. Just like in the show, these characters are not perfect. They have flaws, they have issues-- they may have survived the war, but their battles aren't over yet. The writing is clear and easy to read, the second-person pov handled extremely well. You can't help but feel for this Hotlips and Hawkeye.

This is about family, and how it's not perfect, not a happily-ever-after, but it is real, it's survival, and it's them together.

Clearly written, with lovely characterisations. This story is awesome.

I'd like to bring to attention anr's awesome reccing idea. If you'll notice, she has recently begun an awesome feat: she's gonna rec 31 pairings in 31 fandoms in 31 days. o.O Three days down, and 28 to go! This is such a nifty idea that I have decided to give anr her own tag. Special Reccer: Anr. We here at het_reccers applaud and encourage new ideas and mad reccing! Go Anr! The idea is so brilliant, in fact, that we're opening up the comm for one volunteer every month to follow in her footsteps, though we're lowering the threshold. 31 recs in 31 fandoms in 31 days is intimidating, yo.

We think 20 recs in at least 5 different fandoms is more doable. Although more recs and more diversity is always, always appreciated here. October is covered by anr, but we're looking for people for every month thereafter. You can sign up here months in advance, because I imagine it will take time to gather up all those fics to rec.
