We've decided on our 4 yr anniversary special event. We're doing two! I previously posted about it, and got a variety of responses. We are doing (1) a 30 day shipping meme, where each day, any member can rec on the specific category of that day. Since we might get too much traffic with this, we're gonna bend the rules a little so that people, if they want, can submit multiple days in one post. In fact, we kinda encourage that. ;)

and (2) Shipping Cage Match. There will be six rounds. The first round will have a 128 ships in 32 questions (4 ships per question). Only the top choice in each question will proceed to the next round. Then, there will be 2 ships per question in the following rounds, and each round will successively eliminate half the pairings. So it'll be 128 -> 32 -> 16 -> 8 -> 4 -> 2 -> WINNER. The dates of each round will be held on: 10/1 Round 1, 10/6 Round 2, 10/11 Round 3, 10/15 Round 4, 10/20 Round 5, 10/25 Round 6. Winner declared on the last day of the month.

I basically had a cut-off of 5 uses in our tag system. If a pairing had that many, it was virtually guaranteed to get in the match-up. I almost had a perfect 128 ships, but a few extra slipped in so I had to some weeding out. Hopefully I didn't miss anything, but if I did, TELL ME NOW. I eye-balled it, so it's perfectly possible that I accidentally left out a pairing that should be in.

A lot of people expressed concern about the potential for wank with this. I agree it can be a problem, so if it gets too wanky, I'll just shut it down. I'm going to make a rule, which will be awkward to enforce but we'll try it: only positive love! You want Pairing X to win over Pairing Y? Then spam the comments section with love for Pairing X. Don't bash/badmouth Pairing Y. It'll be a hard rule to enforce, admittedly, but we'll try. (The mods will need help from members monitoring the comments section. You see a problem, inform a mod.) I feel it necessary for this comm because it's been such an open, friendly comm for shippers of such variety. I don't want to jeopardize that.
