Why This Must Be Read: I have always loved the idea of Jack/Liz on 30 Rock and since it is coming back for its last season I picked them for my favorite ship. This fic is funny and hot, not an easy feat to pull off. The dialogue is whip smart and the characterizations are perfect. I can't help but hope that something like this will happen in the show. (Even though Tina Fey says it never will. You have to love that so many people have asked about a Jack/Liz romance, right?)

Why This Must Be Read: It was so hard to pick my very first ship, it's hard to recall when I started shipping. I'm guessing it was in the 80's and involved brat pack movies. I always wondered what happened to the characters in St. Elmo's Fire. Did they stay in touch, were they still friends years later, and did anyone end up together? This fic answers many questions while giving us a brief glimpse of Wendy's life. It tells the story of a chance meeting of Wendy and Billy years after the movie ends and shows us that as Wendy grew up, she never outgrew her first love. I'm so happy someone wrote about these two reconnecting again and it is a lovely story.

Why This Must Be Read: This one-shot is a beautiful, painful, perfect follow-up to the events of "The Angels Take Manhattan" (though it is entirely spoilery for that episode). The author dives into the heart of the many contradictions and confusions that River Song comprises, and she considers not only the toll that her relationship with the Doctor takes but also her choices within it--including why she'll be his wife, but not his companion. There's a brutal honesty here, necessary for their relationship (I think), which was hinted at in the episode. The Ponds aren't the only tragic-happy ending here.

Why This Must Be Read: This is one of the first stories that truly sold me on Terry/Dana, who suffered from inconsistent writing in the last two seasons of the show. The writer tied the entire canon together in an interesting way while making the characters seem strong and real, even though they're flawed.

Why This Must Be Read: Author's summary: When Sookie realizes that her feelings for both Bill and Eric might have been caused just by their blood, she takes drastic steps that will change her life―and the lives of Eric and Bill―forever.

The reason I loved this story so much was because Sookie finally recognized that if Eric's blood could affect her in such a drastic way than Bill's blood could have too, which on the show she never seems to come to realize at least not to the extent that it changes anything for her. With the help of Lafayette and Jesus, Sookie tries to figure out if it's their blood or real love she has with both Eric and/or Bill. The premise fulfills the need for a smarter Sookie and also a loving relationship between Eric & Sookie not tainted by manipulation.

There is also a sequel, Come Back to Me, but that's a WIP still.

And it might be the first fic in a series (you'll get why once you hit a certain part in the fic).

Why This Must Be Read: This was the pairing and the story that instantly jumped into my head when I saw what the first theme was going to be. I've been reading Klaus/Caroline almost non-stop for the past few months and in that time I've read a lot of good stories, but what sets this one apart from the bunch is how this author writes Klaus. It's so easy for writers to give into the impulse to soften Klaus's edges, but there is a darkness in this author's Klaus that never goes away, and Caroline is all too aware of it. The ending of this piece is just perfect, and one of my all time favorites in fandom.
