Why This Must Be Read: I know, I know. I need to stop reccing SGA fic, but I'll stop reccing it when good fics stop getting written, okay? This fic was just posted less than an hour ago? Anyway, it's priceless, because the humor and awesomeness of it is pretty much unparalleled. I would go on and on about the hilarious lines and characterization, the awesome bonding between John and Cameron (you know they'd be best buds) and Elizabeth's involvement.... but dude, this story is just love. Seriously. Mad amounts of love.
John leans forward too, hands flat on her desk, eyes boring into hers. “Referee.”
She huffs a surprised laugh and gets up, pushing him out of the way. “You’re kidding.”
He chases after her, grabbing her arm. “I know, but think about it, it makes sense, I promise. Cam and I are team captains so we can’t do it. You’re very fair, people get excited when you participate, you know the rules -”
“I don’t know anything about football.”
“You only pretend not to. C’mon, Lizabeth, it’s got to be you. Cam and me think -”
“Cam and me. Cam and me.” She pokes him in the chest. “Someone’s got a little crush.”
John grins. “No crush. But I’ll admit it’s nice to have another guy around who doesn’t work for me and understands that football’s more important that particle physics.” Circling around behind Elizabeth, he takes her by the shoulders and steers her over to window, looking down into the gate room. Cameron is down there, talking to one of his recruits. “And if I did have a crush, I’d have good taste. Come on. How can you resist that face?”
John stands behind Elizabeth, and doesn’t see any particular reason to let go of her arms. Below them, Cameron senses their attention and looks up. When he sees Elizabeth, he gives her an exaggerated pout and falls to his knees, wringing his hands in supplication.
John turns to look at Elizabeth. He’s standing close enough that an errant strand of her hair tickles his nose. She’s looking down at Cameron, and her face melts into a smile. “You know,” she says, “I really can’t.”
