When I was a kid and I started watching the Pretender, I hated Miss Parker with my whole being. I was eleven and naive but I just needed a couple more episodes to fall in love completely.

Miss Parker is one of those characters that changes in the course of the show, her past, her character is revealed through flashbacks, small scenes that could mean nothing but yet they do. Her obsession with her mother’s death could be tiring after some time, but the only thing she has.

Miss Parker is a daughter of the chairman of the powerful organization called The Centre and his wife Catherine Elaine Parker. She spent his childhood with her mother in happy ignorance of what her father is doing, but then Catherine died and Miss Parker spent more and more time in the cold bowels of the Centre, she met Jarod and somewhere the chase began.

Twenty years later Miss Parker is a head of the security in the Centre and just got a new assignment, to catch his former best friend Jarod.
Every season of the Pretender has a different Miss Parker, but all those changes are caused, it isn’t just doing of the most powerful script. Its Miss Parker slowly uncovering the truth of her mother’s death, finding out more about the Centre and Jarod, finding love and more than one sibling.

But even though we came through four season and two movies there is still too many secrets to this character and I am not talking about her parentage.

We knew that she spend her teenage years in boarding school, had a fling with son of the Yakuza most powerful man and, quoting, „did a lot of frat boys“, we know almost nothing. Her back-story is as clouded as her first name, which is a question bothering way to many fans.

Why This Must Be Read: I recced this author before and I am doing it again, the reason is obvious, she is just so good.kirbyfest  shows us an interlude short after Thomas death. Miss Parker is broken and almost everybody can see it, but mostly Jarod.

Why This Must Be Read: In my early days of reading fanfiction and learning to read in English, Phenyx was my favorite author. Her stories aren’t mostly dealing with the Centre mumbo jumbo but just the relationship between Miss Parker and Jarod, in this one, we can see the future. Jarod is married to Zoe and Miss Parker rebuilt the Centre in a hospital. Their lives change when someone abducts Miss Parker’s younger brother.

Why This Must Be Read: This fic is printed sitting on my bookshelf. I read it so many times I know it now from heart. But it’s just so good, absolutely angst free, just funny and damn cute. When Jarod finally takes Zoe for the promised road trip he runs into Miss Parker, except she isn’t behaving like his favorite huntress at all.
