Why This Must Be Read: This fanfic is more of a friendship fic with subtext than an out-and-out shipper fic, but it's a future!fic that shows the Carlton-Jules dynamic exactly what you'd expect them to be like ten years down the road. They're so simpatico that what's not said between them is more important than what's actually said. I appreciate that the author respects the audience's ability to read between the lines.

Why This Must Be Read: This fic *made* my weekend. The title alone is amazing, as well as the individual chapter/section titles. Those remind me a bit of Community, where each episode is named after a college course; here, each section reads like the chapter title in a self-help guide.

I also like how non-gendered all of Lassiter's suggestions for making Juliet feel better are. They're all activities--running, target practice--tied into how adorably enthusiastic Jules used to be about police work, back around Season Two. I guess Carlton misses that almost amusing eagerness. Overall, this is really sweet.

Why This Must Be Read: I love how Squeeka Cuomo writes Lassiter's combination of arrogance and complete lack of self-awareness. There's a warmth and humor to this story, and I also like the sweet almost-domesticity between Juliet and Lassie. It's a story that kept crossing my mind for days after I read it, and it definitely holds up upon re-read. It's exactly the type of thing I believe could happen in canon.

Why This Must Be Read: "Alice" expands upon the Wonderland allusion from "In Plain Fright." I'm also glad to know that I wasn't the only one who's uncomfortable with Jules not trusting Lassiter enough to tell him, even after he hints that he suspects *something* is going on between her and Shawn. As much as Jules is supposed to be the friendly one and Lassie the antisocial one, he's a much better friend to her than she is to him.

Also, I honestly wasn't sure how to label this fic, because it's technically a Shawn/Jules story in which Shawn never actually appears. It's bascially Shawn/Jules as seen through the lens of Carlton and Jules's friendship.
