Why This Must Be Read:
harukami wrote the Yaone and the Dokugakuji that are in my head. She didn't shy away from what Dokugakuji's childhood must have been like, the scars it left, how it shaped who he is now. Her Yaone is tender and strong and in control - I wish everyone wrote Yaone like this. The interplay between both of those characters is excellent

"It is spring and Yaone has brought in blossom after blossom to fill her room. They are bright, colourful, a relief from the dark monotony of Houtou castle, and red as her lord's hair so that she may touch them and close her eyes and smile and wonder.
The first time she invites Dokugakuji in and he blanches, she does not understand what is bothering him.
The second time, she still does not understand, but he is Dokugakuji and so he explains to her so she will not be left wondering, be left a little hurt.
