Why This Must Be Read: This story does an amazing job of showing the passion and intensity of Erik and Christine's love for each other, but it doesn't shy away from the difficulties they encounter. Christine has to learn to deal with Erik's temper and obsession and Erik starts to see Christine as her own woman, rather than the girl he first met at the opera. However his desire to protect her is brought out in full force when another man develops an obsession with her.

Why This Must Be Read: After one night with Erik Christine goes on to marry Raoul and is forced to sing again as part of a business deal to save what remains of the De Chagny fortune. Even after years apart Christine and Erik are still drawn to each other and the relationship Erik develops with Christine's son further complicates the situation. Wonderfully in character, this is plotting Erik at his best.

Why This Must Be Read: Be warned, this is dark, very dark. This isn't an Erik that will gradually come into the light to be with Christine, this Erik is going to do anything necessary to make sure that Christine stays in the dark with him. As mad as he gets, Erik is always in complete control of the situation and by the end Christine is a shell, completely dependent on him. If you like really dark POTO fics, I would also recommend The Scorpion's other works.
