I'm not sure what it was about Stargate Atlantis that sparked such an ENORMOUS number of AUs. Yet here we are.

Why This Must Be Read: THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH MOMENTS IN MY LIFE for me to explain why you need to read this. The characterizations are spot on. The historical detail (and accuracy) is STAGGERING. The tension is NEARLY UNBEARABLE a lot of the time. EVERYONE is in it. And it is ENORMOUS.

I do recommend that you start with Ascension of the Queen, and read the stories in the order they were written. It feels more like seasons of TV that way. :)

Why This Must Be Read: Have you noticed yet that melyanna does not do things by halves? Yes, this is huge and amazing and combines politics and Stargate in a way about a million times better than the actual show did, but what I love the most is how melyanna goes into the FUTURE and writes...well, that would spoil the surprise. Start with "The Pacific Rim", and prepare to be amazed.

Why This Must Be Read: Okay, so this story focuses on a 'ship I don't follow, and features a series I hadn't even HEARD OF when I started reading, and I ADORE IT ANYWAY. It's absolutely gorgeously put together, and if you HAVE read the Anne Bishop books, you can appreciate tielan's dedication to the original style.

Why This Must Be Read: Even though miera_c thinks Jane Austen would kick her ass for this, I kind of like it. And by "kind of", I mean "really, quite a lot".

Also, I cannot find this, but SOMEWHERE on the internet is the WONDERFUL Atlantis fic where they all turn into WRAITH, care of that bug thing that bit Sheppard. Possibly it's not het.
