Rah, rah, incredibly obscure pairing, ho!
1. Fandom Category: Star Trek: Reboot
Pairing: Christine Chapel/Leonard McCoy
Fic Title: Jim Kirk's Limp Dick and Other Obstacles on the Path to Love and Jim Kirk Is An Insufferable Idiot and Other Lessons Learned Along the Way
Author: anonynonymous
Link: http://anonynonymous.dreamwidth.org/tag/series:+jtk+pwns
Rating/Warning(s): NC-17, spoilers for the reboot movie.
Genre: AU, friendship, romance, humor, angst.
WIP?: Both stories are finished, but there's a hint at more for later.
Why This Must Be Read: Because it's long, plotty, awesome, and really digs into the consequences of what the massacre at Vulcan means to Starfleet and those left behind. Also because it's a great view at a possible relationship, and Jim Kirk being awesome and strangely perceptive. It's also pretty great that the author went back and wrote a companion to the first story, just so we'd get McCoy's side of the coin.
Fandom Category: Star Trek: Reboot
Pairing: Christine Chapel/Leonard McCoy
Fic Title: Southern Anthem (She Will Buckle To That Sound) and Scarlet Tide (It Will Lay Her Burdens Down)
Author:

Link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5189871/1/southern_anthem and http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5200406/1/scarlet_tide
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13, AU.
Genre: AU, friendship, ust.
WIP?: Both listed as complete.
Why This Must Be Read: Even though it's more of a fic fragment than an actual full-out story, this sucker intrigued me. It's pushing the boundaries of AU (Civil War-reboot, whut?) but the bones of the characters are there, and just the little reactions and moments are lovely. Also the prose is great, and it totally left me stomping my foot and wanting MORE. ETA: It looks like the author might make this a string of fic fragments. Which I'm very much behind.
3. Fandom Category: Star Trek: Reboot
Pairing: Christine Chapel/Leonard McCoy
Fic Title: How to Save a Life
Author:
mytsie
Link: http://mytsie.livejournal.com/108727.html
Rating/Warning(s): NC-17, dark.
Genre: Angst, friendship, post-movie.
WIP?: Complete.
Why This Must Be Read: This little thing is dark as hell, but I kind of love it anyway. The first stories I recced in this post have some great post-Vulcan aftermath in them, but this is the Vulcan aftermath. This is dirty and hard and painful to read in all the best ways. It doesn't shy from the sheer damage left behind, and while it's not a very romantic story (at all), I think it's also a true story.
4. Fandom Category: Star Trek: Reboot
Pairing: Christine Chapel/Leonard McCoy
Fic Title: Going Down To Georgia Series
Author:
seren_ccd
Link: http://seren-ccd.livejournal.com/tag/going+to+georgia+series
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13, so far.
Genre: Friendship, romance, ust, pre-movie.
WIP?: The stories are contained, but the series is ongoing.
Why This Must Be Read: Because McCoy and Chapel are twelve kinds of adorable in this. This is pre-movie, so has a much lighter feel to it than the other stuff I'm reccing. It's a slow-burn romance that's got both characters doing some light dancing and I am SO anticipating the rest of this!
5. Fandom Category: Star Trek: Reboot
Pairing: Christine Chapel/Leonard McCoy
Fic Title: The Five Drink Series
Author:
down_fell_jill
Link: http://down-fell-jill.livejournal.com/tag/chapel/mccoy
Rating/Warning(s): NC-17.
Genre: Friendship, romance, humor.
WIP?: Yes.
Why This Must Be Read: Because how can you NOT love a series based on Chapel and McCoy accidentally-on-purpose screwing each other a lot? I've had a soft spot for aware-but-drunken sex since
mylittleredgirl made me into a John/Elizabeth shipper, and this series hits all those buttons and leaves me giggling. These stories are just such a delight.
