Why This Must Be Read: Last summer, once I'd been drawn wholeheartedly into Haven and ended up watching fourteen episodes in two days, I went on a mad Audrey/Nathan fic search. There wasn't much at the time, but this fic was out there to be read and so very, very good. Set in S1, Audrey's decided it's time to move out of the B&B and is on the search for a place to live. The real gems in this story are the secondary characters, who are bang-on and wonderfully quirky. Audrey and Nathan's characterizations are perfect too. Mostly gen but definitely worth the read.

Why this must be read: It is a rare story indeed that not only challenges my perception of the characters and their potential actions but also manages to make a scenario I previously thought implausible seem like the only logical scenario. But this story, with Audrey and Nathan deciding to flee Haven in an attempt to save both the town they love and each other, is just so well-written and so very, very them that I immediately cast all my doubts aside and embraced it. It's a subtle but telling tale of what true sacrifice is, and it's about as perfect a story as I can think of.

Why This Must Be Read: Okay, standard disclaimer: I take shameless enabling pride over this fic, as I got the author into this fandom through blatant manipulation and bribery, but this deserves to be recced on its own right. The author just does a fan-flipping awesome job of capturing the dynamics between Audrey and Nathan, and the characterization is perfect. From subtle moments to fulfledged hotness (in kissing, though I sincerely hope that LP will eventually move on to writing smut between these two), this fic goes the range. Lone_Pyramid has done a few other Nathan/Audrey fics, some with stellar Duke voices as well (particularly Room with a View for the humor), so check out all her works if you're a fan of this pairing.

Why This Must Be Read: It starts with Nathan wrapped in despair. It's a beautifully told story from Nathan's point of view, interweaving Nathan's life in a Trouble-free Haven and the events that allowed that to come about, with the dread fear that something happened to Audrey. Wading through all the angst to reach the ending is well worth the trip. Duke and Julia add their voices too.

Why This Must Be Read: I have to say, I was wonderfully surprised to find this fic in such a new fandom, because it's perfectly in character and the details are all wonderfully drawn. This has spoilers through episode 1.08, "Ain't No Sunshine." The last ten seconds of the episode? Y'know, where he gets that look on his face? Yeah, this is one logical outcome of that scene, and how Nathan and Audrey explore the newfound sensation that she inspires in him. And though this fic is hot, it's not just about sex. It really is a great look into how Nathan's disease has affected his outlook on life, and how Audrey changes that.

A great read!
