Fandom Category: RPF
Pairing: Katee Sackhoff/Jamie Bamber
Fic Title: I Feel Fine
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ebneter
Link: LJ
Rating/Warning(s): PG
Genre: Post-apocalyptic, romance, humour, meta
WIP?: No.

Why This Must Be Read: Because it's Katee/Jamie after the apocalypse! With meta! It's funny and sad and sweet and awful. What more could you possibly want?

Fandom Category: RPF
Pairing: Gillian Anderson/David Duchovny
Fic Title: On Masculinity
Author: [livejournal.com profile] elapses
Link: LJ
Rating/Warning(s): PG
Genre: Humour, Talking About Their Characters As If They Were Real
WIP?: No.

Why This Must Be Read: Because it's mostly dialogue and that dialogue is excellent. David gets all existential about pink and Gillian is worried about Scully's emotional state and their dynamic is as weirdly close and oddly prickly as it ought to be.

Here is the second rec, newly formatted for your reading pleasure.

Fandom Category: The X-Files RPF
Pairing: Gillian Anderson/David Duchovny
Fic Title: the stars seem out of reach
Author: Anonymous until January 1.
Rating/Warning(s): PG-13 (language)
Genre: vignette or if you prefer, a short short story. 1,030 words.
WIP?: Not at Yuletide. It's a rule.

Why This Must Be Read:

Summary:

He's sitting on the hotel bed and she's rooting through his mini-bar and it's just the two of them, without the buffer of Mulder and Scully, and there aren't any cameras or carpets or kids, and even though he's known her for most of his adult life, he's spent so little time with her like this.

The second story is one I had the good fortune to receive as a gift. Although the author expressed some concern, I think this story might be better than what I asked for. It's about Gillian's surprise appearance at opening night of David's off-Broadway play, "The Break of Noon." It's a sensitive, romantic and emotionally resonant portrayal of their complicated professional and personal relationship, and it still fits my idea of the characters pretty damn well. I love it (so much!) and I think you will, too.
