I like the pairing of Gwen and Jack because at the very beginning of Torchwood (series 1), she is the one who has the best chance of being his equal, something I think is necessary for a good relationship. (You can choose to be submissive, but if you are not starting from equality and making the choice, it is not good.) I like this insight into Jack's side of the story.
