Why This Must Be Read: An AU of Half-Blood Prince, a single changed event sends the characters in a slightly different direction. Here we have two Gryffindors who would have done just as well, if nor more so, in Slytherin, had the circumstances of their lives been just a little different. Romilda's character is explored and fleshed out, rather than left aside and written off as a fangirl floozy. Harry shows just how cunning he can be, and keeps up with Romilda with ease. Other characters are also given a chance to grow, though still others are not treated as kindly as JKR treated them. The romance of the story is beautiful, built slowly and surely. An outstanding fic.
